You are now the proud owner of the compact but powerful Crate BX-15 Bass Amplifier,
small in size but big in performance: the 8” Crate Custom speaker makes the most of the ampli-
fier’s 12 watts of musical output power. A 4-band rotary EQ and built-in Limiter circuit give you
complete control over a wide variety of sounds. In addition, the front-panel headphone and
external speaker jacks make this amplifier equally suited for private practicing as well as per-
forming in intimate surroundings.
Like all Crate products, your BX-15 is designed by musicians, and built using only the best
components. Extensive testing insures you that this amplifier is the absolute best it can be.

FRONT PANEL – MASTER SECTION
1: INPUT: Use this 1/4” jack to connect
your bass guitar to the amplifier by
means of a shielded instrument cable.
2: VOLUME: Use this control to adjust
the output level of the amplifier.
3: LOW: Use this control to adjust the
bass response of the amplifier.
Rotating the control counterclockwise
reduces the low frequency output.
Rotating the control clockwise increas-
es the low frequency output. It may be
necessary to reduce the Low frequen-
cy output at higher volume levels.
4: LOW MID: Use this control to adjust
the “thickness: or “fatness” of the
amplifier. Rotating the control counter-
clockwise reduces the lower midrange
frequency output. Rotating the control
clockwise increases the lower
midrange frequency output.
5: HIGH MID: Use this control to adjust
the clarity and definition of the string
attack. Rotating the control counter-
clockwise reduces the upper midrange
frequency output. Rotating the control
clockwise increases the upper
midrange frequency output.
6: HIGH: Use this control to adjust the
high frequency response of the ampli-
fier. Rotating the control counterclock-
wise reduces the high frequency out-
put. Rotating the control clockwise
increases the high frequency output.
7: EXTERNAL SPEAKER: Use this
jack to connect the amplifier to an
external speaker. The internal speaker
is disconnected when this jack is used.
The impedance of the external speak-
er must be 4 ohms or greater.
WARNING: Do not attempt to use head-
phones in the Speaker jack! Permanent
hearing damage could result!
8: HEADPHONES: Use this jack to
connect headphones to the amplifier.
The internal speaker is disconnected
when this jack is used. A line level sig-
nal can also be obtained from this jack
for recording, etc.
CAUTION: To avoid possible damage to
your hearing, so not use headphones for
extended periods of time at extremely
loud levels.
9: ON LED: This LED illuminates
when the amplifier is turned on.
10: POWER: Use this switch to turn
the amplifier on (top of the switch
depressed) and off (bottom of the
switch depressed).
11: POWER CORD (rear panel, not
shown): The grounded power cord
should only be plugged into a ground-
ed power outlet that meets all applica-
ble electrical codes and is compatible
with the voltage, power, and frequency
requiremnts stated on the rear panel.
Do not attempt to defeat the safety
ground connection.

PANEL DELANTERO - SECCION MAESTRA
1. El jack de ENTRADA (INPUT) acepta
una clavija telefónica estándar y es ade-
cuado para cualquier fuente de señal de
nivel bajo ó de línea.
2. La perilla de VOLUMEN (VOLUME)
controla el nivel de sonido global.
ECUALIZACION Y SALIDA
3. La perilla de BAJOS (LOW) ajusta el
rango de bajos en el amplificador. Este
control permite un rango total de 15
Decibeles de incremento ó corte a 60
Hertz. Usted quiza “disminuir” el bajo a
volumenes altos.
4. El control de MEDIOS BAJOS (LOW
MID) tiende a impartirle una característica
más “gruesa” ó “llena” al sonido. Este con-
trol permite un rango total de 18 Decibeles
de incremento ó corte a 630 Hertz.
5. El control de MEDIOS AGUDOS (HIGH
MID) permite un rango total de 19
Decibeles de incremento ó corte a 2
Kilohertz.
6. El control de AGUDOS (HIGH) controla
el rango superior de frecuencias y añade
brillantez (al sonido). Este control permite
un rango total de 27 Decibeles de incre-
mento ó corte a 10 Kilohertz.
7. El jack para BOCINAS EXTERNAS
(EXTERNAL SPEAKERS) sirve para
conectar una bocina a la unidad.
8. El jack de salida para AUDÍFONOS Y
LÍNEA (HEADPHONE) aceptará una clav-
ija estándar de audífonos para ensayar en
privado. La bocina (altoparlante) se
desconecta en forma automática cuando
se enchufan audífonos en este lugar.
También se puede obtener de este jack
una señal de nivel de línea para graba-
ciones, etc.
9. El INDICADOR LED DE ENERGÍA
“ENCENDIDA” (POWER “ON”
INDICATOR LED) se encenderá cuando
la unidad está prendida.
10. El interruptor de ENERGÍA (POWER)
sirve para prender ó apagar el suministro
de corriente alterna.

14: CABLE DE ENERGIA: (POWER
CORD): (Panel trasero, no se muestra)
Este cable de energia, de tres alambres
de uso pesado con tierra se debe conectar
SOLAMENTE a una conexion de energia
de 60 ciclos de Corriente Alterna, a 120
Volts con tierra y cableada de forma que
no presente ningun peligro. ¡NO INTENTE
eliminar la conexion de tierra en este
cable! Si su BX-15 fue adquirido fuera de
los Estados Unidos vea la parte posterior
de la unidad para las especificaciones de
energia y siga las instrucciones arriba
mencionadas.
CUIDADO: ¡No intente utilizar audifonos en el conec-
tor de la bocina! Puede el oido resultar dañado per-
manentemente.

FACE AVANT – SECTION PRINCIPAL
1. PRISE POUR INSTRUMENT (INPUT)
accepte une fiche de 1/4’’ (.635 cm) et elle
est convenable pour aucune source de
signal.
2. RÉGLAGE DE VOLUME (VOLUME)
contrôle le niveau de son global.
EGALISATION ET SORTIE
3. BAS (LOW) régle la gamme des sons
graves de l’amplificateur. Le réglage per-
met une plage totale de 15 dB d’augmen-
tation ou une coupe à 60 Hz. Diminuer les
sons graves aux hauts niveaux de volume.
4. BAS-MOYEN (LOW MID) tend à
adjouter une caractéristique plus «épais»
ou plus «plat» au son. Le réglage permet
une plage totale de 18 dB d’augmentation
ou une coupe à 630 Hz.
5. HAUT-MOYEN (HIGH MID) permet une
plage totale de 19 dB d’augmentation ou
une coupe à 2 kHz.
6. HAUT (HIGH) contrôle la gamme des
hautes fréquences et adjoute la clarté. Le
réglage permet une plage totale de 27 dB
d’augmentation ou une coupe à 10 kHz.
7. PRISE POUR ENCEINTE AUXILAIRE
(SPEAKER) pour lier un haut-parleur à
l’appareil.
8. PRISE POUR CASQUE D’ÉCOUTE
(HEADPHONE) accepte une fiche de
casque standarde pour la pratique privée.
L’haut-parleur se débraye automatique-
ment quand la fiche de casque se met ici.
On peut aussi obtenir un signal auxiliare
de cette prise pour l’enregistrement, etc.
9. VOYANT LUMINEUX «ON» (POWER
ON INDICATOR LED) est illuminé quand
l’appareil marche.
10. COMMANDE MARCHE-ARRÊT
(POWER) contrôle le pouvoir CA.
FACE DERRIERE
14. CORDON SECTEUR (POWER
CORD): (Face arriere, pas montré) Ce
cordon de trois fils à la masse doit être
branchè seulement sur une prise de
courant raccordée à la terre. de 120 volt,
60 cycle CA. N’essayez jamais de sup-
primer la broche correspondant à la terre.
Si le BX-15 a été acheté en dehors des
États-Unis, voir la face arriere pour son
règime de puissance et suivre les instruc-
tions en-dessus.
AVERTISSEMENT: N’essayez pas à utiliser un casque
d'écoute avec la prise pour un haut-parleur suplémentaire.
La surdité permanent peut résulter.

The BX-15 is covered with a durable black Tolex material: wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth. Never spray
cleaning agents onto the cabinet. Avoid abrasive cleansers which would damage the finish.
