Cat & Co.
Meow Meow
A cheerful and colorful
classic card game for 2 to 4 children
between 4 and 99 years old.
Illustration: Paletti Grafik
Length of the game: 10 - 15 minutes
Four little kittens compete in an amusing race for the best spot
in the basket. Each player tries to be the first to discard their
cards. Only the player who wins the round may take a step
forward with their kitten towards the goal.
Contents
36 animal cards in 4 colors, 16 special cards in 4 colors,
1 meadow card, 1 basket card, 4 kittens (in 4 colors),
1 set of instructions
Preparation
Place the basket and meadow cards together in the middle of
the table. Shuffle all of the other cards. Each child is dealt a
hand of 5 cards and takes them secretly into their hand. Place
the remaining cards face down as the draw pile. Turn over the
top card of the draw pile and place it face up as the discard
pile.
3
ENGLISH
If the card is a special card, it is placed under the pile and the
next card is turned face up (until an animal card appears). Each
child chooses a kitten and places it on the meadow card on the
first set of paws that match the kitten’s color.
How to play
Play in a clockwise direction. Whoever petted a cat most
recently gets to start first.
Look carefully at the top card of the discard pile.
Do you have a card in your hand that either has the same
color or the same animal as the top card of the discard
pile?
Yes. Great!
Place your card face up on the discard pile.
4
ENGLISH
No. Too bad!
Draw a card from the draw pile. If you can play this card,
you may do so immediately. Otherwise keep the card in your
hand.
Then the next child takes their turn.
If the draw pile is used up in the course of the game, shuffle
the discard pile and turn it into the new draw pile. Note: the
card that was last played on the discard pile is not reshuffled
and remains face up.
The game contains 4 special cards:
You may play the cards with the cat, fox, and owl normally on
cards with the same color or the same animal. However, each
of these animals has another special function.
Cat is a Reverse card
When the cat card is played,
the direction of play is reversed.
With 2 children this means that
the other child misses his or
her turn.
5
ENGLISH
Fox is a Draw Two card
If the fox card is played, then the
next child has to draw two cards
from the draw pile before their
turn. If the child can play another
of their cards, he or she may do
so. If, however, the child also has
a fox card, he or she can play it
and doesn’t have to draw a card. However, the next child
has to draw four cards from the draw pile, unless he or she
also has a fox card...
Owl is a Lose a Turn card
If the owl card is played,
then the next child misses
his or her turn.
Parrot is a Wild Joker card
The parrot card is the only card that can be
played on any card, with one exception: it
cannot be played on another parrot card. The
child who plays the parrot card gets to choose
the color of the next card. The child may again
choose the color of the card just played. The
next child must then discard a card of the color
chosen. If the child cannot do so, he or she must draw a card
from the draw pile.
6
ENGLISH
End of the round
As soon as a child discards the
last card in their hand, the round
is over. The child may move one
step further toward the basket.
Then a new round begins. Shuffle
the cards and again deal five
cards to each child.
End of the game
The first child to reach the basket with their kitten wins the
game.
Tip: The game can be made easier by removing one or more of
the special cards and/or playing with your cards face up.
Variation
Play as described in the basic game. When a child is left with
just one card in their hand, they have to call out “Meow!” The
round ends when a child calls out "Meow-Meow!" when they
lay down their last card.
If the child forgets to call out "Meow!" or "Meow-Meow,”
then they must take a card from the draw pile.

Katze & Co.
Mau Mau
Ein fröhlich-bunter Kartenspiel-Klassiker
für 2 - 4 Kinder von 4 - 99 Jahren.
Illustration: Paletti Grafik
Spieldauer: 10 - 15 Minuten
Schritt Richtung Ziel gehen.
Spielinhalt
36 Tierkarten in 4 Farben, 16 Sonderkarten, 1 Wiesenkarte,
1 Körbchenkarte, 4 Kätzchen (in 4 Farben), 1 Spielanleitung
Spielvorbereitung

gleichen Tier legen. Jedes dieser Tiere hat aber noch eine
Sonderfunktion:
• Katze
Wird die Katzen-Karte gelegt,
wechselt die Spielrichtung. Bei 2
Kindern bedeutet das, dass das
andere Kind aussetzen muss.
15
DEUTSCH
• Fuchs
Wird die Fuchs-Karte gelegt,
muss das folgende Kind vor
seinem Zug zwei Karten vom
Nachziehstapel ziehen. Kann es
noch eine seiner Karten ablegen,
darf es dies tun. Hat das Kind
jedoch selbst ebenfalls
Karten ziehen. Nun muss allerdings das nächste Kind vier
Karten vom Nachziehstapel ziehen. Es sei denn, es hat auch
eine Fuchs-Karte...
• Eule
Wird die Eulen-Karte gelegt,
muss das folgende Kind aus-
setzen und wird übersprungen.
• Papagei
Karte vom Nachziehstapel ziehen.
16
DEUTSCH
Rundenende
Sobald ein Kind seine letzte
Handkarte abgelegt hat, beendet
es die Spielrunde. Es darf mit
seinem Kätzchen einen Schritt
weiter Richtung Körbchen ziehen.
Dann beginnt eine neue Runde.
Mischt alle Karten und verteilt
wieder fünf an jedes Kind.
Spielende

table.
