2. Getting Started
Thank you for purchasing a GoRave GoTV Audio Sender for television. This manual provides basic installation, operating instructions,
valuable information on various GoTV system congurations, and general information that will help you get optimum performance from
your system.
Please contact your authorized GoRave specialty dealer or retailer for answers to any questions you might have. In addition, all of us at
GoRave welcome your questions and comments.
2.1 Features
GoTV sends your entertainment audio out to the GoRave receivers and speakers installed in your space. GoTV is a S/PDIF GoRave
Audio Sender which is compatible with both coaxial (electrical) and TOSLINK (optical) S/PDIF stereo PCM audio sources. GoTV can
transmit to up to four wireless receivers.
S/PDIF digital audio via coaxial or TOSLINK optical cable via 3.5mm jack
PCM stereo audio input
Infrared receiver with learning of volume and mute from your IR remote control
Status LED
USB POWER: GoTV is powered through its attached USB cable. Connect it to any USB port on your television.
3.5MM INPUT: The input jack on GoTV serves as the input for either an electrical or optical S/PDIF audio signal. Connect it to a com-
patible 3.5mm plug for either format.
INFRARED REMOTE CONTROL: The GoTV has a built in infrared receiver for volume control. This infrared capability works with a
wide variety of infrared remotes via an infrared learning capability. GoTV has the ability to learn the volume up, volume down, and mute
commands from your existing TV remote.
2.2 Included Accessories
3.5mm to TOSLINK optical cable
3.5mm to RCA coaxial cable
USB power adapter
USB extension cable
Adhesive Hook-and-Loop Fastener (Velcro™)
2.3 Install GoTV Audio Sender
The GoTV Audio Sender is intended to receive audio input from your television’s S/PDIF optical or coax outputs. The GoTV transmitter
is powered from a USB port.
GoTV has an infrared sensor to accept volume up, volume down and mute commands from your TV’s IR remote control. There must be
adequate clearance around the GoTV’s IR sensor for this to work. Keep this in mind when placing the product in a cabinet or stacking
other equipment.
Most installations have the GoTV mounted on the side edge of the television. Using the supplied Adhesive Hook-and-Loop Fastener
(Velcro™), permanently install the main enclosure of GoTV so that the Infrared Receiver faces the room in view of your infrared remote
control.
A GoRave Audio Sender transmits up to a 100 feet. Install your GoTV inside this transmitting range. When deciding the best location
for GoTV, include the distance needed to transmit from outside spaces like the back yard or patio. For optimum wireless transmission
range, mount your GoTV vertically on the television or wall. Installing it at on a furniture stand will yield a smaller wireless range.

2.4 TV Setup
1. SET YOUR TV AUDIO OUTPUT TO ‘EXTERNAL AUDIO’
The GoRave GoTV Audio Sender requires stereo PCM audio from your TV’s digital audio output. Every TV is different, so be sure
to change your television’s audio settings to output stereo digital PCM audio via the TV’s S/PDIF port.
2. CONNECT AUDIO SENDER TO TV
Connect your TV’s S/PDIF audio output (Coaxial or Optical Toslink pictured below) to the 3.5mm input on the GoTV Audio Sender.
3. CONNECT AUDIO SENDER TO POWER
GoTV needs power from an available USB port on your TV. If your TV doesn’t have an available USB port, use the included 5V
USB adapter. The adapter will operate between 90–270 AC line voltage with a line frequency of either 50 Hz or 60 Hz. There is no
need to convert or adjust the unit in any way. The LED indicator on GoTV will light indicating that it is powered.
NOTE: If you are going to be away from home for an extended period of time, it is a sensible precaution to unplug your audio and
video components, including the GoTV Audio Sender, while you are away. This will prevent damage from lightning or electrical
surges.
4. CONNECT AUDIO SENDER TO ONE OR MORE RECEIVERS
GoRave Audio Senders and Receivers (e.g. AR5 or Soul Way sound bar) need to be paired together to play. Start a show, video or
audio playlist on your TV to initiate audio playback.
The GoTV Audio Sender is now transmitting the TV’s audio signal. GoRave Receivers within the transmitter’s wireless range can
play that audio. To pair your GoTV and GoRave Receiver, double-click the Connect button on your GoRave Receiver. The LED
status indicator will turn bright amber when the wireless link is paired. You will hear your TV audio playing through the speakers
connected to the Receiver.
Save this pairing connection by pressing and holding the Receivers Connect button for 3 seconds. The Receiver’s LED indicator

will turn bright green – your Audio Sender has been saved in the Receiver’s Favorites List.
Finally, put your Receiver into the automatic “All Play” mode by pressing the Receivers Connect button four times. The LED indica-
tor will turn red. When the Receiver is in All Play, you will not have to press the Connect button to play audio from your TV or other
paired Audio Senders. It will automatically play from the rst Audio Sender that transmits.
5. TV INFRARED REMOTE SETUP
You can use your TV’s infrared remote control to increase the volume, decrease the volume or mute the audio through the GoTV Audio
Sender. Follow these steps to train your GoTV to listen to the volume and mute commands from your IR remote.
1. Get your IR remote ready.
1. Disconnect the USB power and audio input cables from the GoTV Audio Sender.
2. Plug USB into a power source. The GoTV LED indicator will ash twice, ready to learn.
3. Press the Volume ↑ button on the TV’s infrared remote. The GoTV LED indicator will ash once to conrm that Volume ↑ has been
learned.
4. Press the Volume ↓ button on the TV’s infrared remote. The GoTV LED indicator will ash once to conrm that Volume ↓ has been
learned.
5. Finally, press the Mute button once. The red LED will ash for 2 seconds to show that Mute has been learned and that the whole
procedure was a success.
6. Now insert the 3.5 mm audio cable and start playing audio.
If GoTV senses that an audio cable is connected at power up, it continues in normal operation. GoTV will start the learning mode if it
is powered on with no audio cable inserted into its 3.5mm jack. To skip learning and use your previously learned IR commands, make
sure an audio cable is plugged into GoTV before connecting power.
You can disable infrared learning if you click the same button twice on your remote control during the learning procedure.
If at any point in the sequence, GoTV does not see a button press for more than 15 seconds, the LED will ash twice and infrared learn-
ing will be disabled. If GoTV sees at least one button press and no second or third button press within 14 seconds, the LED will ash
four times and all previously learned IR commands will be erased. If GoTV sees the same button pressed twice in a row, the LED will
ash four times and all previously learned IR commands will be erased. Use steps 1 and 2 above again to restart the learning proce-
dure.
GoTV will remember previously learned infrared commands even while powered off.

3. Troubleshooting
Most issues in audio systems are result of poor or wrong connections, or improper control settings. If you encounter problems, isolate
the area of difculty, check the control settings, determine the cause of the fault and make the necessary changes.
1. Will my TV work with GoTV?
If your TV does not have a coaxial or optical Toslink S/PDIF digital audio output, it will not work with GoTV. The GoRave GoTV
Audio Sender requires stereo PCM audio from your TV’s digital audio output. Refer to the audio specications below in Section 4.
2. How to turn TV speakers off?
Change your television’s audio settings to output two-channel (stereo) digital PCM audio via its S/PDIF port. This should switch the
sound playback from the TV’s built-in speakers to the GoTV Audio Sender. However: not all TVs behave this way. Some don’t even
allow you to turn off the built-in speakers. Refer to your TV’s user manual for details.
3. Where to place my GoTV for best results?
Review section 2.3 for the best information about mounting your GoTV Audio Sender.
4. How does GoRave function when more than one Audio Sender transmitter is paired to a receiver?
When set to All Play Mode (indicated by red LED on the receiver), GoRave receivers will play from the rst Audio Sender that
transmits sound. If a second Audio Sender is transmitting, the receiver will not play it until the rst Audio Sender stops transmitting.
5. How to stop a GoRave Audio Sender from transmitting?
Audio Senders stop playing and drop their wireless bond with the receiver when they are powered off or when they stop sensing
audio input for ve seconds. Turn off your TV or unplug the USB power to stop your GoTV from transmitting.
6. When I mute GoTV, will the GoRave receiver play audio from another paired transmitter?
GoTV will hold its wireless bond with the receiver and continue transmitting even if you mute the TV. The receiver will understand
that you’ve muted the audio and turn its volume to zero. To drop the bond and stop transmitting from the GoTV Audio Sender,
power the TV off.
