INTRODUCTION

The 4,000 lb 12V DC A-Frame Trailer Jack is rated to support up to a 4,000

trailer. The jack is predrilled to fit with any A-frame trailer, has an LED light to

illuminate the hitch area at night and a built in leveling gauge.

2. Wear gloves that provide protection based on the work materials or to

reduce the effects of tool vibration.

3. Wear protective clothing designed for the work environment and device.

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS

Control the device, personal movement and the work environment to avoid

personal injury or damage to device.

1. Do not operate any device when tired or under the influence of drugs,

alcohol or medications.

2. Avoid wearing clothes or jewelry that can become entangled with the

moving parts of a device. Keep long hair covered or bound.

3. Do not overreach when operating a device. Proper footing and balance

enables better control in unexpected situations.

SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from

repeated use) replace strict adherence to the device safety rules. If you use

this device unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.

1. Use the correct device for the job. This device was designed for a specific

function. Do not modify or alter this device or use it for an unintended purpose.

2. Do not attempt to lift more than the 4,000 lb. maximum lifting capacity of

this jack. The jack’s rating must exceed 10 to 15 percent of the Gross

Trailer Weight Rating (GTWR) as listed on the trailers specification plate or

in the owner’s manual.

3. Always place the jack on a hard, level surface capable of supporting the

load. Allow enough clearance around the jack and the load for movement.

4. Never place any part of your body beneath the trailer that is supported by the

jack. A jack failure or shifting of the trailer may cause it to collapse and cause a

serious injury or death.

5. Keep your limbs and body away from any pinch or shearing points while

using the jack. Failure to do so may result in a serious injury.

6. Inspect the jack before each use. DO NOT use if bent, broken, cracked or

otherwise damaged, if any suspect parts are noticed or it has been

subjected to a sudden or unexpected load (shock loading).

7. Ensure that all applicable pins, bolts and nuts are firmly tightened before using.

8. Do not allow untrained persons to operate the jack.

9. Secure the load, trailer and vehicle by chocking all the wheels before using.

10. Do not place your hands between moving components.

11. Use only with accessories rated to handle the forces exerted by the device

during operation. Other accessories may break and forcefully launch pieces.

12. Once the load is lifted to the desired height, support the load with jack

stands to prevent injury should the jack fail. Do not work under a load that

is supported only by a jack.

13. Ensure that there are no obstructions under the load and that the area is

clear before lowering it.

14. Ensure that the lock pin is properly inserted through the inner and

tubes, and that there is no load on the trailer before using the manual

drop leg extension.

15. Do not adjust the drop foot while there is a load on the jack.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

1. Disconnect device from power source before cleaning, servicing, changing

parts/accessories or when not in use.

2. Protect yourself against electric shocks when working on electrical

equipment. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces. There is an

increased chance of electrical shock if your body is grounded.

3. Do not expose device to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power

device will increase the risk of electric shock.

4. Do not disconnect the leads in place of using the ON/OFF switch on the

device. This will prevent an accidental startup when the leads are

connected to the power supply.

5. Do not alter any parts of the device or accessories. All parts and accessories

are designed with built-in safety features that may be compromised if altered.

6. Make certain the power source conforms to requirements of your

equipment (see Specifications).

BATTERY LEADS SAFETY

1. Do not operate this device if the leads are frayed or damaged as an electric

shock or surge may occur, resulting in personal injury or property damage.

a. Inspect the leads for cracks, fraying or other faults in the insulation

before each use.

b. Discontinue use if the leads feel more than comfortably warm while

operating the device.

2. Keep all connections dry and off the ground to reduce the risk of electric

shock. Do not touch the leads with wet hands.

3. Prevent damage to the leads by observing the following:

a. Keep the leads away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.

b. Place the leads in a position that prevents them from coming into

contact with the device.

BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

1. Keep any ignition source, such as flames, sparks or embers away from

the battery.

2. Avoid contact with batteries as they contain sulfuric acid. The acid is

corrosive and can cause skin burns.

3. Install caps over the battery terminals to prevent accidental contact.

Discharged batteries may still carry charges and cause electric shock

upon contact.

UNPACKING

WARNING! Do not operate the device if any part is missing. Replace the

missing part before operating. Failure to do so could result in a malfunction

and personal injury.

Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for damage.

Make sure that all items in the contents are included.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION

Letter references in parenthesis (A) refer to the included Identification Key.

1. Attach and secure the trailer’s coupler to the tow vehicle’s hitch. Chock the

wheels of the trailer and vehicle. Also apply the vehicle’s parking brake.

2. Disconnect the trailer battery’s ground cable and secure it so it will not

connect to any metal.

3. Sand the surface around the A-frame’s bolt holes where the jack’s

mounting plate (J) will connect with the frame until bare meal is exposed.

This is to ensure a solid electrical connection for grounding.

4. Remove the foot plate (F) and position it below the hole in the A-frame.

5. Slide the tube (D) into the A-frame’s hole. Guide the foot plate into the

jack’s leg (E). Ensure the groove in the leg is aligned with the one on the

foot plate. Do not insert the lock pin (K).

6. Position the jack to face the towing vehicle or the side. The design of

the vehicle may impair the use of the manual crank (L) based on the

jack’s orientation.

7. Slide a 3/8 in. star washer (M) between the mounting plate and frame at

each bolt hole.

8. Slide a 3/8-16 in. lock washer onto each of the three 3/8-16 in. bolts, then

insert the bolts through the mounting plate, the star washers and A-frame.

9. Secure each bolt with a 3/8-16 in. hex nut. Tighten the bolts with a torque

wrench to between 15 to 20 ft-lb.

10. Unravel the black wire and lay it out along the A-frame to the battery.

Secure the wire with cable ties. Position the cable in a way to protect it

from damage if possible.

11. Connect the wire lead to the battery’s positive terminal (+).

12. Reconnect the batteries ground cable.

13. Press the extend/retract switch (H) to test that the connection is correct

and the jack is working. Also press the LED ON/OFF Switch (C) to confirm

the light is working.

14. Push the foot plate up fully and insert the lock pin (K).

15. Retract the jack.

ADJUST THE BUBBLE LEVEL

The bubble level will require a one-time adjustment once the jack is installed.

The trailer must not be hitched to a towing vehicle during the leveling.

1. Chock the trailer’s wheels to prevent them from rolling.

2. Extend the foot plate (F) and lock it into place with the lock pin (K).

3. Follow either a. or b. based on your situation:

a. Uncouple the trailer’s hitch receiver from the tow vehicle, but do not

remove it yet.

b. Leave jack stands supporting the A-frame in place.

4. Remove the bubble level (H) from the housing. Retain the three screws.

5. Place the bubble level on a flat surface of the trailer. Ensure it will not fall

off during the leveling process.

6. Lower the leveling jacks on the trailer (if equipped with them).

7. Extend the jack until it clears the hitch or the jack stands. Move the jack

stands aside if necessary.

8. Raise or lower the trailer jack until the bubble level indicates the trailer is

horizontal and centered.

9. Place the bubble level back into the housing so it remains centered.

10. Screw all three retaining screws back into the cover. Adjust each screw

until they are tight and the bubble is centered.

11. The adjustment is complete.

a. You may wish to raise the jack enough to allow the jack stands to be

moved back into place. Once they are in position, retract the jack fully.

OPERATION

WARNING! Never apply horizontal force against the jack. The load may

shift and cause the jack to fail, creating a dangerous situation for the

user or bystanders.

This unit has a built-in circuit breaker which automatically trips and resets.

Press the light switch (C) to turn on the LED when performing these operations

in the dark.

UNHITCHING THE TRAILER

1. Chock the trailer’s wheels to prevent rolling.

2. Uncouple the trailer’s hitch receiver from the towing vehicle’s hitch.

3. Press the extend/retract switch to extend the jack’s leg (E) until the foot

plate contacts the ground and raises the trailer off the hitch.

a. The fully extended leg may not reach the ground. Retract the leg until

you have enough room to extend the foot plate.

b. Remove the lock pin and lower the foot plate until it touches the

ground. Raise the foot plate upwards until the bolt holes in it align

with the bolt hole in the leg.

c. Insert the locking pin and close the clasp.

d. Repeat Step 3.

4. Moving the towing vehicle away from the trailer’s hitch receiver.

5. Level the trailer by pressing the extend/retract switch to raise or lower the

jack. It is level once the bubble level is centered.

HITCHING THE TRAILER

1. Press the extend/retract switch to raise the trailer’s hitch receiver above the

level of the towing vehicle’s hitch.

2. Align the towing vehicle’s hitch with the trailer hitch receiver.

3. Press the extend/retract switch to lower the trailer hitch receiver onto the

towing vehicle hitch. Secure the hitch receiver once seated.

WARNING! The hitch receiver must be properly aligned and seated before

retracting the leg fully to prevent it from slipping off the hitch and causing

an injury to yourself or bystanders.

MANUAL OVERRIDE

A loss of power may require you to raise and lower the trailer using the manual

crank (L).

1. Remove the crank cap (G) and set aside.

2. Insert the manual crank onto the shaft in the housing.

3. Crank counterclockwise to extend the leg. Crank clockwise to retract the

leg. Follow the directions for hitching or unhitching the trailer.

4. Replace the crank cap when done and store the crank.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

1. Maintain the device with care. A device in good condition is efficient, easier

to control and will have fewer problems.

2. Inspect the device components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or

worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.

3. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.

4. Only use accessories intended for use with this device.

5. The jack’s motor is sealed and maintenance-free.

6. Check the wiring from time-to-time. Ensure all the connections are tight

and free from corrosion. Ensure the ground wire has a solid metal-to-metal

contact with the trailer frame.

7. Check the battery charge and electrolyte level as directly by the battery’s

manufacturer.

8. Disconnect the battery from the trailer jack if it will not require power for

several days. This will prevent the battery from discharging.

9. Maintain the device’s labels and name plates. These carry important

information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for

replacements.

WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the device. An

improperly repaired device may present a hazard to the user and/or others.

LUBRICATION

Inspect and lubricate the device when required. Apply grease to the inner tube

when extended and then retract to grease the outer tube

NOTICE! NEVER use a penetrating oil to lubricate the device. Penetrating oil

may act as a solvent that can break down the grease and cause the device

to seize up.

DISPOSAL

Recycle a device damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.

Contact your local municipality for a list of disposal facilities or by-laws for

electronic devices, batteries, oil or other toxic liquids.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the device does not function

properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a qualified technician

service the device.

INTRODUCTION

2. Ne tentez pas de soulever un objet qui excède la capacité de levage

maximale de 4 000 lb de ce cric. La puissance nominale du cric doit

dépasser de 10 à 15 pourcent le poids nominal brut de la remorque

(PNBR) tel qu'il apparaît sur la plaque de caractéristiques de la remorque

ou dans le manuel du propriétaire.

3. Placez toujours le cric sur une surface dure et de niveau pouvant soutenir

la charge. Assurez-vous qu’il existe un jeu suffisant autour du cric et de la

charge afin de permettre le mouvement.

4. Assurez-vous que le sol est suffisamment solide pour soutenir le poids de

la remorque à l'endroit où le cric est déployé.

5. Gardez les membres et le corps à l'écart de tout point de pincement ou de

cisaillement lorsque vous utilisez le cric. Le non-respect de cet

avertissement peut entraîner des blessures graves.

6. Inspectez le cric avant chaque utilisation. Ne l’utilisez PAS s’il est tordu,

cassé, fissuré, s’il a des fuites ou est endommagé de toute autre manière,

si des pièces suspectes sont observées ou s’il a été assujetti à une charge

abrupte ou imprévue (charge de choc).

7. Vérifiez que tous les boulons, écrous et goupilles applicables sont serrés

fermement avant l’utilisation.

9. Immobilisez la charge, la remorque et le véhicule en plaçant des cales sous

toutes les roues avant l’utilisation.

10. Ne placez pas vos mains entre les composants mobiles.

11. N’utilisez que des accessoires certifiés pour supporter les forces exercées

par cet appareil durant son fonctionnement. D’autres accessoires peuvent

se briser et projeter des débris avec force.

12. Après avoir soulevé la charge à la hauteur désirée, soutenez celle-ci au

moyen de chandelles afin de prévenir les blessures advenant la chute du

cric. Ne travaillez pas sous une charge soutenue uniquement par un cric.

13. Assurez-vous qu’il ne se trouve aucune obstruction sous la charge et que

la zone est libre avant de l’abaisser.

14. Assurez-vous que la goupille de sécurité est bien insérée dans les tubes

intérieur et extérieur et qu’aucune charge n’est imposée au niveau de la

remorque avant d’utiliser la rallonge escamotable manuelle.

SÉCURITÉ EN ÉLECTRICITÉ

1. Déconnectez l'appareil de la source d'énergie avant le nettoyage,

l'entretien, le remplacement de pièces ou d'accessoires ou lorsqu'il n'est

pas utilisé.

2. Protégez-vous contre les chocs électriques lorsque vous travaillez en

présence d'équipement électrique. Évitez le contact entre votre corps et les

surfaces reliées à la terre. Il y a un risque plus élevé de choc électrique si

votre corps est mis à la terre.

3. Les appareils ne doivent jamais être exposés à la pluie ou à une forte

humidité. Si l'eau pénètre à l'intérieur d'un appareil, le risque de choc

électrique devient beaucoup plus grand.

4. Ne débranchez pas les fils de connexion au lieu d’utiliser l’interrupteur de

MARCHE/ARRÊT sur l’appareil. Ceci permet d’éviter une mise en marche

involontaire lorsque les fils de connexion sont branchés à la

source d’énergie.

5. Ne modifiez aucune partie de l'appareil ou des accessoires. Toutes les

pièces et tous les accessoires sont conçus avec des dispositifs de sécurité

intégrés qui seront compromis s'ils sont modifiés.

6. Assurez-vous que la source d'énergie est conforme aux exigences de votre

équipement (consulter les spécifications).

SÉCURITÉ DES CÂBLES DE BATTERIE

AVERTISSEMENT ! Ne placez PAS les deux colliers de serrage en contact l’un

contre l’autre alors que l’appareil est branché à la batterie d’un véhicule. Il

en résultera une décharge qui pourrait provoquer une électrocution.

1. N’utilisez pas cet appareil si les fils de connexion sont effilés ou

endommagés, car un choc électrique ou une pointe de tension peut se

produire, ce qui pourrait causer des blessures corporelles ou des

dommages matériels.

a. Avant chaque utilisation, inspectez les fils de connexion; vérifiez qu’ils

ne sont ni fissurés, ni effilochés et que l’isolant n’est pas endommagé.

b. Arrêtez d’utiliser l’appareil si les fils de connexion sont trop chauds

au toucher.

2. Pour réduire le risque de choc électrique, assurez-vous que toutes les

connexions sont sèches et qu’elles n’entrent pas en contact avec le sol. Ne

touchez pas les fils de connexion avec les mains mouillées.

3. Pour éviter tout dommage aux fils de connexion, observez les

précautions suivantes :

a. Gardez les fils de connexion à l’écart des sources de chaleur, de

l’huile, des bords coupants ou des pièces mobiles.

b. Disposez les fils de connexion de façon qu’il ne touche pas l’appareil.

PRÉCAUTIONS RELATIVES À LA PILE

1. Tenez toute source d’inflammation, comme les flammes, les étincelles ou

les braises à l’écart de la batterie.

2. Évitez tout contact avec les batteries, puisqu’elles contiennent de l’acide

sulfurique. L’acide est corrosif et peut brûler la peau.

3. Placez des capuchons sur les bornes de batterie afin de prévenir tout

contact accidentel. Les batteries déchargées peuvent encore contenir une

certaine charge et provoquer ainsi un choc électrique lors d’un contact.

DÉBALLAGE

AVERTISSEMENT ! Ne faites pas fonctionner l'appareil si des pièces sont

manquantes. Remplacez les pièces manquantes avant l'utilisation. Le

non-respect de cet avertissement peut entraîner une défectuosité et des

blessures graves.

Retirez les pièces et les accessoires de l'emballage et vérifiez s'il y a des

dommages. Assurez-vous que tous les articles du contenu sont présents.

ASSEMBLAGE ET INSTALLATION

Les lettres de référence entre parenthèses (A) se rapportent à la clé

d'identification comprise.

1. Reliez et fixez le coupleur de la remorque à la nouvelle boule de

remorquage du véhicule. Placez des cales sous les roues de la remorque et

du véhicule. Serrez également le frein de stationnement du véhicule.

2. Débranchez le câble de mise à la masse de la batterie de la remorque et

retenez-le pour éviter qu’il ne vienne toucher une pièce de métal.

3. Sablez la surface autour des trous de boulon du cadre triangulaire où la

plaque de montage (J) du cric vient rejoindre le cadre jusqu’à ce que le

métal nu soit exposé. Cela a pour but d’assurer une connexion électrique

solide de mise à la masse.

4. Retirez la plaque de pied (F) et placez-la sous l’orifice dans le cadre

triangulaire.

5. Glissez le tube (D) dans l’orifice du cadre triangulaire. Guidez la plaque de pied

dans la patte du cric (E). Assurez-vous que la rainure de la patte est alignée

avec celle de la plaque de pied. N’insérez pas la goupille de sécurité (K).
