Proper Disposal of Your Old Refrigerator

Suffocation Hazard

Remove doors from your old refrigerator.

Failure to do so can result in death or

brain damage.

IMPORTANT: Child entrapment and suffocation are not problems

of the past. Junked or abandoned refrigerators and freezers are

still dangerous - even if they will sit for "just a few days." If you

are getting rid of your old refrigerator or freezer, please follow

these instructions to help prevent accidents.

Before you throw away your old refrigerator or freezer:

• Take off the door.

• Leave the shelves in place so that children may not easily

climb inside.

INSTALLATIONINSTRUCTIONS

Excessive Weight Hazard

Use two or more people to move and install

refrigerator.

Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.

Removing packaging materials

• Remove tape and glue residue from surfaces before turning

on the refrigerator. Rub a small amount of liquid dish soap

over the adhesive with your fingers. Wipe with warm water

and dry.

• Do not use sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable

fluids, or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or glue. These

products can damage the surface of your refrigerator. For

more information, see the "Refrigerator Safety" section.

• Depending on your model, remove protective film from shelf

trims. Look for the "Peel Off" strip, and use your fingernail to

peel off the film.

When Moving Your Refrigerator:

Your refrigerator is heavy. When moving the refrigerator

for cleaning or service, be sure to protect the floor.

Always pull the refrigerator straight out when moving it.

Do not wiggle or "walk" the refrigerator when trying to move

it, as floor damage could occur.

Cleaning before use

After you remove all of the package materials, clean the inside of

your refrigerator/freezer before using it. See the "Cleaning"

section.

Important information to know about glass shelves

and covers:

Do not clean glass shelves or covers with warm water when

they are cold. Shelves and covers may break if exposed to

sudden temperature changes or impact, such as bumping.

For your protection, tempered glass is designed to shatter

into many small, pebble-size pieces. This is normal. Glass

shelves and covers are heavy. Use special care when re-

moving them to avoid impact from dropping.

Explosion Hazard

Keep flammable materials and vapors, such as

gasoline, away from refrigerator.

Failure to do so can result in death, explosion,

or fire.

IMPORTANT: Do not install the convertible refrigerator/freezer

near an oven, radiator, or other heat source, nor in a location

where the temperature will fall below 40°F (5°C).

Allow at least 3 in. (7.5 cm) of air space at the top and on both

sides of the convertible refrigerator/freezer and 1 in. (2.5 cm)

between the back of the convertible refrigerator/freezer and the

wall. If the convertible refrigerator/freezer is to be against a wall,

leave extra space on the hinge side so the door can open wider.

NOTE: This convertible refrigerator/freezer may be installed side

by side with another refrigerator or freezer. Allow for a 3 in.

(7.5 cm) clearance at the top and sides and a 1/4in. (0.64 cm)

clearance between the appliances.

Electrical Shock Hazard

Failure to follow these instructions can result in

Before you move your convertible refrigerator/freezer into its final

location, it is important to make sure you have the proper

electrical connection.

Recommended grounding method

A 115 Volt, 60 Hz., AC only 15 or 20 ampere fused, grounded

electrical supply is required. It is recommended that a separate

circuit serving only your convertible refrigerator/freezer be

provided. Use an outlet that cannot be turned off by a switch. Do

not use an extension cord.

NOTE: Before performing any type of installation, cleaning, or

removing a light bulb, turn both temperature controls to the OFF

position as shown and disconnect the convertible refrigerator/

freezer from the electrical source.

REFRIGERATOR FREEZER

When you are finished, reconnect the convertible refrigerator/

freezer to the electrical source and reset the temperature controls

to the desired setting. See "Using the Controls."

Tools Needed: Flat-blade screwdriver

1. Place the handle on the door as shown.

2. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, attach the handle to the door

with the 4 handle screws (provided).

3. Place the trim pieces on the upper and lower handle ends as

shown.

NOTE: Some models have an (optional) gold trim piece that

snaps on the handle ends before placing the end trim pieces.

4. Apply firm pressure with your hand on the face of the trim.

Slide the top trim down and the bottom trim up toward the

handle.

5. To remove the handle, reverse these directions.

6. Check with a level.

7. Open and close the door to make sure it swings as easily as

you like.

Your new convertible refrigerator/freezer may make sounds that

your old one didn't make. Because the sounds are new to you,

you might be concerned about them. Most of the new sounds are

normal. Hard surfaces, such as the floor, walls, and cabinets, can

make the sounds seem louder. The following describes the kinds

of sounds and what may be making them.

• Your convertible refrigerator/freezer is designed to run more

efficiently to keep your food items at the desired

temperatures and to minimize energy usage. The high

efficiency compressor and fans may cause your convertible

refrigerator/freezer to run longer than your old one. You may

also hear a pulsating or high-pitched sound from the

compressor or fans adjusting to optimize performance.

• You may hear the evaporator fan motor circulating air through

the compartment. The fan speed may increase as you open

the door or add warm food.

• Rattling noises may come from the flow of refrigerant, the

water line, or items stored on top of the convertible

refrigerator/freezer.

• Water dripping on the defrost heater during a defrost cycle

may cause a sizzling sound.

• As each cycle ends, you may hear a gurgling sound due to

the refrigerant flowing in your convertible refrigerator/freezer.

• Contraction and expansion of the inside walls may cause a

popping noise.

• You may hear water running into the drain pan during the

defrost cycle.

REFRIGERATOR REEZER

USE

NOTE: Keep the two bolts that secured the refrigerator in the

shipping case. They are the front leveling legs.

Your refrigerator has 2 adjustable leveling legs. If your refrigerator

seems unsteady or you want the doors to close easier, adjust the

refrigerator's tilt using these instructions.

1. Screw the legs all the way into the bolt holes in the bottom

corners of the refrigerator.

2. Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.

3. Move the refrigerator into its final position.

4. Adjust the front legs just enough to lift the cabinet up off of

the floor.

NOTE: If your model is equipped with rollers, the front legs

should be lowered enough to lift the rollers off of the floor to

ensure the convertible refrigerator/freezer does not roll

forward when the door is opened.

5. Adjust the legs to level the refrigerator:

• Turn the leveling leg to the right to lower that side of the

refrigerator.

• Turn the leveling leg to the left to raise that side of the

refrigerator.

In order to ensure proper temperature, you need to permit proper

airflow in the refrigerator. As shown in the illustration, cool air

enters through the refrigerator wall and moves down. The air then

recirculates through the vent near the bottom.

Do not block any of these vents with food packages. If the vents

are blocked, airflow will be prevented, and temperature and

moisture problems may occur.

IMPORTANT: To prevent odors and drying out of food, wrap or

cover foods tightly.

IMPORTANT:

• The mode switch in the center of the control panel is used to

select the operating mode of the convertible refrigerator/

freezer. When the left-hand side of the switch is depressed

and the indicator lights up, the product is a Refrigerator.

When the right-hand side of the switch is depressed and the

indicator lights up, the product is a Freezer.

NOTE: Do not stack large or bulky items that may cover the

center rib of the top door shelf. Large or bulky items may

press against the mode switch changing the function of the

convertible refrigerator/freezer.

• The convertible refrigerator/freezer has 2 separate

controls.The REFRIGERATOR (left-hand) temperature control

is used when operating as a refrigerator. The FREEZER

(right-hand) temperature control is used when operating as a

freezer.

NOTE: Both temperature controls should remain at the

desired temperature setting. This allows the convertible

refrigerator/freezer to return to the desired temperature when

either operating mode is selected.

To Operate as a Refrigerator

Setting the control

For your convenience, your convertible refrigerator/freezer

control is preset at the factory to the recommended setting as

shown.

1. Make sure the Refrigerator control is still preset to 3

(mid-setting).

2. Press the MODE SWITCH closer to the Refrigerator control

until it lights up.

NOTE: To turn your refrigerator off, turn the Refrigerator

control to OFF. Your refrigerator will not cool when the control

is set to the OFF position.

Allow the refrigerator time to cool down completely before adding

food. It is best to wait 24 hours before putting food into the

refrigerator. Turning the temperature control to a colder (higher)

than recommended setting will not cool the compartment any

faster. The control is set correctly when milk or juice is as cold as

you like.

NOTE: If you add food before the refrigerator has cooled

completely, your food may spoil.

When the refrigerator is first started, the compressor will run

constantly until the cabinet is cooled. It may take up to 6 or

8 hours (or longer), depending on room temperature and the

number of times the refrigerator door is opened. After the cabinet

is cooled, the compressor will turn on and off as needed to keep

the refrigerator at the proper temperature.

The outside of your refrigerator may feel warm. This is normal.

The refrigerator's design and main function is to remove heat

from packages and air space inside the refrigerator. The heat is

transferred to the room air, making the outside of the refrigerator

feel warm.

NOTE: During high humidity, moisture may form on the outside of

the refrigerator. To prevent rust, dry the refrigerator's exterior and

adjust the temperature control to a colder (higher) setting.

Adjusting the control

Move the dial one setting at a time and wait 24 hours between

adjustments.

• Turn control to a higher number for colder temperatures.

• Turn control to a lower number for less cold temperatures.

To Operate as a Freezer

IMPORTANT: Remove all glass containers from the convertible

refrigerator/freezer before selecting Freezer mode.

Setting the control

For your convenience, your convertible refrigerator/freezer

control is preset at the factory to the recommended setting as

shown.

1. Make sure the Freezer control is still preset to 3 (mid-setting)

as shown.

NOTE: This setting is designed to maintain the temperature

at or near 0°F (-17.8°C) under normal operating conditions.

2. Press the MODE SWITCH closer to the Freezer control until it

lights up

NOTE: To turn your freezer off, turn the Freezer control to

OFF. Your product will not cool when the freezer control is set

to the OFF position.

Allow the freezer to cool 6 to 8 hours before filling with frozen

food. Turning the temperature control to a colder (higher) than

recommended setting will not cool the compartment any faster.

Let the freezer cool overnight before adding large amounts of

unfrozen food. Never add more than 2 to 3 Ibs. (907-1,350 g) of

unfrozen food per cubic foot (28.32 L) of freezer space.

NOTE: If you add food before the freezer has cooled completely,

your food may spoil.

number of times the freezer door is opened. After the cabinet is

Store similar foods together and adjust the shelves to fit different

heights. This reduces the time the refrigerator door is open and

saves energy.

To remove and replace a shelf:

1. Remove the shelf by pulling it forward slightly to align the

shelf stops with the openings in the refrigerator compartment

liner. Lift straight up, and pull the shelf out the rest of the way.

2. Replace the shelf by lowering the shelf stops through the

openings in the refrigerator compartment liner. Slide the shelf

in the rest of the way.

Drawers

To replace crisper cover:

1. Fit the back of the cover frame into the supports on the side

walls of the refrigerator. Lower the front of the cover frame

into place.

2. Slide the rear of the glass insert into the cover frame and

lower the front into place.

Adjustable Meat Drawer (on some models)

The meat drawer can be placed on either the right or left side of

the refrigerator.

To move the meat drawer:

1. Remove the meat drawer and cover (see the "Refrigerator

Shelves" section).

NOTE: The meat drawer cover has one fixed support that runs

down the center of the shelf. The outside support is the

adjustable one.

2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the adjustable support

and move it to the other side of the meat drawer cover.

3. Place the meat drawer cover in the desired location and slide

the meat drawer back into position.

Meat storage guide

Store most meat in original wrapping as long as it is airtight and

moisture-proof. Rewrap if necessary. See the following chart for

storage times. When storing meat longer than the times given,

freeze the meat.

Fresh fish or shellfish ......................... use same day as purchased

Chicken, ground beef, variety meats (liver) ...................... 1-2 days

Cold cuts, steaks/roasts .................................................. 3-5 days

Cured meats ................................................................... 7-10 days

Leftovers - Cover leftovers with plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or

place in containers with tight fitting lids.

To remove and replace a drawer:

1. Slide drawer straight out to the stop. Lift the front of the

drawer and slide it out the rest of the way.

2. Replace a drawer by sliding it back in fully past the stop.

Crisper Cover

To remove the crisper(s) cover:

1. Remove crisper(s). Hold the glass insert firmly with one hand

and press up in the center of the glass insert until it rises

above the plastic frame. Carefully slide the glass insert

forward to remove.

2. Lift the cover frame and remove it.

You can adjust the amount of humidity in the moisture-sealed

crisper using the settings between HIGH and LOW.

LOW (open) lets moist air out of the crisper for best storage of

fruits and vegetables with skins.

• Fruit: Wash, let dry and store in refrigerator in plastic bag in

crisper. Do not wash or hull berries until they are ready to use.

Sort and keep berries in original container in crisper.

• Vegetables with skins: Place in plastic bag or plastic

container and store in crisper.

HIGH (closed) keeps moist air in the crisper for best storage of

fresh, leafy vegetables.

• Leafy vegetables: Wash in cold water, drain and trim or tear

off bruised and discolored areas. Place in plastic bag or

plastic container and store in crisper.

Refrigerator Mode

surfaces thoroughly. Use a clean sponge or soft cloth and a

mild detergent in warm water.

• Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners such as window

sprays, scouring cleansers, flammable fluids, cleaning

waxes, concentrated detergents, bleaches or cleansers

containing petroleum products on plastic parts, interior

and door liners or gaskets. Do not use paper towels,

scouring pads, or other harsh cleaning tools. These can

scratch or damage materials.

• To help remove odors, you can wash interior walls with a

mixture of warm water and baking soda (2 tbs. to 1 qt.

[26 g to 0.95 L] of water).

4. Replace the removable parts.

5. Clean the exterior as needed. See "Cleaning Exterior" later in

this section.

6. Clean the condenser coils regularly. Coils may need to be

cleaned as often as every other month. This may help save

energy. See Cleaning Condenser Coils later in this section.

7. Plug in refrigerator or reconnect power.

Freezer Mode - Frost Free

Frost-free means that you will never have to defrost your freezer.

Frost is removed by air moving and collecting any moisture and

depositing it on the cooling coil. The cooling coil periodically

warms up just enough to melt the frost, and it then flows down to

the drain pan (located behind the base grille) where it is

evaporated.

Complete cleaning should be done at least once a year.

1. Unplug freezer or disconnect power.

2. Remove all frozen food. Wrap frozen food in several layers of

newspaper and cover with a blanket. Food will stay frozen for

several hours. You may also store frozen food in a cooler,

additional refrigerator-freezer, or in a cool area.

3. Hand wash, rinse, and dry removable parts and interior

surfaces thoroughly. Use a clean sponge or soft cloth and a

mild detergent in warm water.

• Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners such as window

sprays, scouring cleansers, flammable fluids, cleaning

waxes, concentrated detergents, bleaches or cleansers

containing petroleum products on plastic parts, interior

and door liners or gaskets. Do not use paper towels,

scouring pads, or other harsh cleaning tools. These can

scratch or damage materials.

• To help remove odors, you can wash interior walls with a

[26 g to .95 L] of water).

4. Replace the removable parts.

5. Replace all frozen food.

cleaned as often as every other month. This may help save

energy. See "Cleaning Condenser Coils" later in this section.

8. Plug in freezer or reconnect power.

Clean the refrigerator about once a month to prevent odors from

building up. Wipe up spills immediately.

1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.

2. Remove all removable parts from inside, such as shelves,

crispers, etc.

CleaningExterior

Use the appropriate cleaning method for your exterior finish.

Painted metal: Wash exteriors with a clean sponge or soft

cloth and a mild detergent in warm water. Do not use abrasive

or harsh cleaners, or cleaners designed for stainless steel.

Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. For additional protection

against damage to painted metal exteriors, apply appliance

wax (or auto paste wax) with a clean, soft cloth. Do not wax

plastic parts.

Stainless steel finish: Wash with a clean sponge or soft

cloth and a mild detergent in warm water. Do not use abrasive

or harsh cleaners. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

• To keep your stainless steel refrigerator looking like new

and to remove minor scuffs or marks, it is suggested that

you use the manufacturer's approved Stainless Steel

Cleaner & Polish.

IMPORTANT: This cleaner is for stainless steel parts only!

Do not allow the Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish to come into

contact with any plastic parts such as the trim pieces,

dispenser covers or door gaskets. If accidental contact does

occur, clean plastic part with a sponge and mild detergent in

warm water. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. To order the

cleaner, see the "Accessories" section.

Cleaning Condenser Coils

1. Open the door and remove the base grille by pulling down

and out from the top.

2. Remove the defrost pan and clean it using a clean sponge or

soft cloth and a mild detergent in warm water. Hand wash,

rinse, and dry it thoroughly.

3. Use a vacuum with an extended attachment to clean the

condenser coils when they are dusty or dirty.

4. Replace the defrost pan.

5. Replace the base grille by putting the clips in the openings in

the refrigerator panel. Push in until the base grille snaps into

place.

NOTE: Not all appliance bulbs will fit your refrigerator. Be sure to

replace the bulb with one of the same size, shape, and wattage.

1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power.

2. Remove the light shield. From the front of the light shield,

push backward and down.

3. Replace the light bulb with an appliance bulb of the same

wattage.

4. Replace the light shield.

5. Plug in refrigerator or reconnect power.

If the electricity in your house goes off, call the power company

and ask how long it will be off.

Freezer Mode

If the power will be out for 24 hours or less, keep the door closed

to help food stay frozen.

If the power will be out for more than 24 hours, do one of the

following:

Remove all frozen food and store it in a frozen food locker.

Place 2 Ibs (907 g) of dry ice in the freezer for every cubic foot

(28 L) of freezer space. This will keep the food frozen for 2 to

4 days.

• If neither a food locker nor dry ice is available, consume or

can perishable food at once.

REMEMBER: A full freezer stays cold longer than a partially filled

one. A freezer full of meat stays cold longer than a freezer full of

baked goods. If you see that food contains ice crystals, it may be

refrozen, although the quality and flavor may be affected. If the

condition of the food is poor, dispose of it.

Refrigerator Mode

If the power will be off less than 4 hours, keep the door closed to

help food stay cold.

If the power will be off more than 4 hours, use up any perishables

and find alternative cold storage.

Vacations

If you choose to leave the refrigerator on while you're away, use

these steps to prepare your refrigerator before you leave.

1. Use up any perishables and freeze other items.

If you choose to turn the refrigerator off before you leave, follow

these steps.

1. Remove all food from the refrigerator.

2. Turn the control to the off position. See "Using the Controls."

3. Clean refrigerator, wipe it, and dry well.

4. Tape rubber or wood blocks to the top of the door to prop it

open far enough for air to get in. This stops odor and mold

from building up.

Moving

When you are moving your refrigerator to a new home, follow

these steps to prepare it for the move.

1. Remove all food from the refrigerator.

2. Turn the Control to the off position. See "Using the Controls."

3. Unplug refrigerator.

4. Empty water from the defrost pan.

5. Clean, wipe, and dry thoroughly.

6. Take out all removable parts, wrap them well, and tape them

together so they don't shift and rattle during the move.

7. Screw in the leveling legs so they don't scrape the floor. See

the "Door Closing" section.

8. Tape the door closed and tape the power cord to the

refrigerator cabinet.

When you get to your new home, put everything back and refer to

the "Installation Instructions" section for preparation instructions.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Try the solutions suggested here first in order to avoid the

cost of an unnecessary service call.

Your refrigerator will not operate

• Is the power supply cord unplugged? Plug into a grounded

3 prong outlet.

• Has a household fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped?

Replace the fuse or reset the circuit.

• Is the Refrigerator Control turned to the OFF position?

See the "Using the Controls" section.

• Is the refrigerator defrosting? Recheck to see whether the

refrigerator is operating in 30 minutes. Your refrigerator will

regularly run an automatic defrost cycle.

The lights do not work

• Is the power supply cord unplugged? Plug into a grounded

3 prong outlet.

• Has a light bulb burned out? Replace with an appliance

bulb of the same wattage, size, and shape. See the

"Changing the Light Bulb" section.

There is water in the defrost drain pan

• Is the refrigerator defrosting? The water will evaporate. It is

normal for water to drip into the defrost pan.

• Is it more humid than normal? Expect that the water in the

defrost pan will take longer to evaporate. This is normal when

it is hot or humid.

The motor seems to run too much

• Is the room temperature hotter than normal? Expect the

motor to run longer under warm conditions. At normal room

temperatures, expect your motor to run about 40% to 80% of

the time. Under warmer conditions, expect it to run even

more of the time.

Has a large amount of food just been added to the

refrigerator? Adding a large amount of food warms the

refrigerator. It is normal for the motor to run longer in order to

cool the refrigerator back down. See the "Refrigerator

Features" section.

Are the doors opened often? Expect the motor to run longer

when this occurs. In order to conserve energy, try to get

everything you need out of the refrigerator at once, keep food

organized so it is easy to find, and close the door as soon as

the food is removed.

• Is the control set correctly for the surrounding

conditions? See "Using the Controls" section.

• Are the doors closed completely? Push the doors firmly

shut. If they will not shut all the way, see "The doors will not

close completely" later in this section.

• Are the condenser coils dirty? This prevents air transfer and

makes the motor work harder. Clean the condenser coils. See

the "Cleaning" section.

• Is the door gasket sealed all the way around? Contact a

qualified person or a technician.

• Is there enough air circulation space around the freezer?

See the "Location Requirements" section.

NOTE: If the problem is not due to any of the above, remember

that your new convertible refrigerator/freezer will run longer than

your old one due to its high-efficiency motor.

The refrigerator seems to make too much noise

• The sounds may be normal for your refrigerator.

See the "Normal Sounds" section.

Temperature is too warm

• Are the air vents blocked? Remove any objects from in front

of the air vents. See the "Ensuring Proper Air Circulation" for

the location of air vents.

Are the door(s) opened often? Be aware that the refrigerator

will warm when this occurs. In order to keep the refrigerator

cool, try to get everything you need out of the refrigerator at

once, keep food organized so it is easy to find, and close the

door as soon as the food is removed.

• Has a large amount of food just been added to the

refrigerator? Adding a large amount of food warms the

refrigerator. It can take several hours for the refrigerator to

return to the normal temperature.

• Is the control set correctly for the surrounding

conditions? See the "Using the Controls" section.

• Is the control set to the appropriate operating mode?

Select Refrigerator for refrigeration temperatures or Freezer

for freezer temperatures. See the "Using the Controls"

section.

Temperature is too cold

• Is the control set to the appropriate operating mode?

Select Refrigerator for refrigeration temperatures or Freezer

for freezer temperatures. See the "Using the Controls"

section.

There is interior moisture buildup

• Are the air vents blocked in the refrigerator? Remove any

objects from in front of the air vents. See the "Ensuring

Proper Air Circulation" for the location of air vents.

• Is the door opened often? To avoid humidity buildup, try to

get everything you need out of the refrigerator at once, keep

food organized so it is easy to find, and close the door as

soon as the food is removed. (When the door is opened,

humidity from the room air enters the refrigerator. The more

often the door is opened, the faster humidity builds up,

especially when the room itself is very humid.)

• Is the room humid? It is normal for moisture to build up

inside the refrigerator when the room air is humid.

• Is the food packaged correctly? Check that all food is

securely wrapped. If necessary, repackage food according to

the guidelines in the "Refrigerator Features" section. Wipe off

damp food containers before placing in the refrigerator.

• Is the control set correctly for the surrounding

conditions? See the "Using the Controls" section.

• Was a self-defrost cycle completed? It is normal for

droplets to form on the back wall after the refrigerator self-

defrosts.

The doors are difficult to open

• Are the gaskets dirty or sticky? Clean gaskets and the

surface that they touch. Rub a thin coat of paraffin wax on the

gaskets following cleaning.

The doors will not close completely

• Are food packages blocking the door open? Rearrange

containers so that they fit more tightly and take up less

space.

• Are the shelves or baskets out of position? Put the shelves

and baskets back into their correct positions. See the

"Refrigerator Features" section for more information.

• Are the gaskets sticking? Clean gaskets and the surface

that they touch. Rub a thin coat of paraffin wax on the

gaskets following cleaning.

• Does the refrigerator wobble or seem unstable? Level the

refrigerator. See the "Door Closing" section.

porte & I'aide des 4 vis de poignee (fournies).

3. Placer les differentes parties de la garniture sur les extremites

inferieures et superieures de la poignee comme indiqu&

REMARQUE : Certains modeles disposent d'une garniture

en or (en option) s'attache sur les extremites de la poignee

avant de placer les pieces de la garniture du bout.

4. Bien appuyer la main sur la surface de la garniture. Glisser la

garniture superieure vers le bas et la garniture inferieure vers

le haut vers la poignee.

5. Pour enlever la poignee, reprendre ces instructions en sens

inverse.

REMARQUE: Garder les deux boulons qui fixent le refrigerateur

dans la caisse d'expedition. IIs'agit des pieds de nivellement &

I'avant.

1. Visser les pieds completement dans les trous des boulons

dans les coins & la base du refrigerateur.

2. Brancher I'appareil sur une prise & 3 alveoles reliee & la terre.

3. Glisser le refrigerateur en place.

4. Abaisser les pieds avant juste assez pour soulever la caisse

du plancher.

REMARQUE : Si votre modele est equipe de roulettes, les

pieds avant doivent _tre suffisamment abaisses pour

soulever les roulettes au-dessus duet s'assurer que le

refrigerateur/congelateur convertible ne se roule pas vers

I'avant Iorsqu'on ouvre la porte.

5. Ajuster les pieds pour niveler le refrig6rateur :

• Tourner dans le sens horaire pour abaisser.

• Tourner dans le sens antihoraire pour soulever.

6. Verifier avec un niveau.

7. Ouvrir et fermer la porte pour s'assurer qu'elle se ferme aussi

facilement que vous le desirez.

II est possible que le refrig6rateur/cong61ateur convertible neuf

emette des bruits que I'appareil prec6dent ne produisait pas.

Comme ces bruits sont nouveaux, ils peuvent vous inquieter. La

plupart de ces nouveaux bruits sont normaux. Des surfaces

dures comme le plancher, les murs et les armoires peuvent faire

paraYtre les bruits plus forts qu'en realit& Les descriptions

suivantes indiquent le genre de bruits et leur origine.

• Votre refrig6rateur/cong61ateur convertible est con£;u pour

fonctionner plus efficacement afin de garder les aliments h la

temperature desir6e et pour minimiser la consommation

d'energie. Le compresseur et les ventilateurs tres efficaces

peuvent faire fonctionner votre refrigerateur/congelateur

convertible plus Iongtemps que I'ancien. Vous pouvez aussi

entendre des bruits saccades ou aigus provenant du

compresseur et des ventilateurs qui s'ajustent pour optimiser

la performance.

• Vous pouvez entendre le moteur du ventilateur d'evaporation

qui fait circuler I'air dans le refrigerateur et le congelateur. La

vitesse du ventilateur peut augmenter si on ouvre la porte ou

si on ajoute des aliments chauds.

• Les vibrations sonores peuvent provenir de I'ecoulement du

refrigerant, de la canalisation d'eau ou d'articles places sur le

refrigerateur/congelateur convertible.

• L'eau qui degoutte sur le dispositif de chauffage durant le

programme de degivrage peut produire un gresillement.

• A la fin de chaque programme, vous pouvez entendre un

gargouillement attribuable au refrigerant qui circule dans

• La contraction et I'expansion des parois internes peuvent

produire un bruit sec.

Ne pas obstruer I'une ou I'autre de ces ouvertures d'aeration

avec des aliments emballes. Si les ouvertures d'aeration sont

bloquees, le courant d'air sera coupe et des problemes de

temperature et d'humidite peuvent survenir.

IMPORTANT • Pour emp_cher le transfert d'odeurs et

I'assechement des aliments, envelopper ou recouvrir

hermetiquement les aliments.

IMPORTANT :

• Le commutateur de mode au centre du tableau de

commande sert h selectionner le mode de fonctionnement du

refrigerateur/congelateur convertible. Lorsque le c6te gauche

du commutateur est enfonce et le temoin lumineux allume,

I'appareil sert de refrigerateur. Lorsque le c6te droit du

commutateur est enfonce et le temoin lumineux allume,

I'appareil sert de congelateur.

REMARQUE • Ne pas empiler des articles gros ou

encombrants qui peuvent couvrir I'ar_te centrale de I'etagere

de la porte en haut. Les articles gros ou encombrants

peuvent forcer sur le commutateur de mode et changer la

fonction du refrigerateur/congelateur convertible.

• Le refrigerateur/congelateur convertible dispose de

2 commandes distinctes. La commande de temperature du

RI2FRIGI2RATEUR (a gauche) est utilisee Iorsque I'appareil

fonctionne comme refrigerateur. La commande de

temperature du CONGI2LATEUR (h droite) est utilisee Iorsque

I'appareil fonctionne comme congelateur.

REMARQUE • Les deux commandes de temperature doivent

rester au reglage desire. Ceci permet au refrigerateur/

congelateur convertible de retourner a la temperature desiree

Reglage de la commande

Pour vous faciliter les choses, votre commande de refrig6rateur/

congelateur convertible est prer6gl6e a I'usine au reglage

REFRIGERATOR

1. S'assurer que la commande du refrig6rateur est toujours

prer6gl6e & 3 (reglage moyen).

2. Appuyer sur le MODE SWITCH (commutateur de mode) le

plus pres de la commande du refrigerateur jusqu'& ce que le

temoin s'allume.

REMARQUE : Pour regler la commande de la temperature &

arret, tourner le reglage comme I'indique I'illustration. Votre

appareil ne se refroidira pas Iorsque la commande du

refrigerateur est regle a arret.

Donner au refrigerateur le temps de se refroidir completement

avant d'y ajouter des aliments. II vaut mieux attendre 24 heures

avant de placer des aliments dans le C. Le reglage est fait

correctement Iorsque le lait ou le jus est aussi froid que vous

I'aimez et Iorsque la creme glacee est ferme.

REMARQUE : Si on ajoute des aliments avant que le

refrigerateur ne soit completement refroidi, les aliments risquent

de s'aMmer.

Lors de la mise en marche initiale du refrigerateur, le

compresseur fonctionne constamment, jusqu'& ce que la caisse

soit refroidie. Ce refroidissement peut demander jusqu'& 6 ou

8 heures (ou plus), selon la temperature ambiante et la frequence

des ouvertures du refrigerateur. Lorsque la caisse est refroidie, le

compresseur s'arrete et recommence au besoin, pour maintenir

le refrigerateur & la temperature appropriee.

L'exterieur du congelateur peut paraftre tiede. Ceci est normal. Le

refrigerateur est congu avec style et sa principale fonction est

I'elimination de la chaleur provenant des emballages et

I'isolement de I'air & I'interieur du refrigerateur. La chaleur est

renvoyee dans la piece, ce qui rend I'exterieur du refrigerateur

tiede.

REMARQUE : Lors d'une humidite intense, une buee peut se

former sur I'exterieur de la caisse. Pour empecher la rouille,

essuyer la caisse et regler de nouveau la commande de

temperature a un reglage plus froid.

Ajustement de la commande

Deplacer le cadran d'un chiffre & la fois, et attendre 24 heures

entre les ajustements.

• Tourner la commande &un chiffre plus eleve pour des

temperatures plus froides.

• Tourner la commande &un chiffre plus bas pour des

temperatures moins froides.

REMARQUE : Ce reglage est congu pour maintenir la

temperature & environ 0°F (-17,8°C) sous des conditions de

fonctionnement normales.

Laisser le congelateur refroidir pendant 6 ou 8 heures avant de le

remplir de produits surgeles. Laisser le congelateur se refroidir

toute la nuit avant d'ajouter de grandes quantites d'aliments non

congeles. Ne jamais ajouter plus de 2 &3 Ib (907 - 1350 g)

d'aliments non congeles par pied cube (28,32 L) d'espace dans

le congelateur.

REMARQUE : Si on ajoute des aliments avant que le

refrigerateur ne soit completement refroidi, les aliments risquent

CARACTERISTIQUES,DUP FRIGERATEUR/

CONGEIATEUR

Importants renseignements a savoir au sujet des tablettes

et des couvercles en verre :

Ne pas nettoyer les tablettes ou couvercles en verre avec de

I'eau tiede quand ils sont froids. Les tablettes et les couver-

cles peuvent se briser s'ils sont exposes a des changements

soudains de temperature ou a un impact tel que coup

brusque. Pour votre protection, le verre trempe est congu

pour eclater en d'innombrables pieces minuscules. Ceci est

normal. Les tablettes et les couvercles en verre sont Iourds.

Un soin special s'impose Iors de leur deplacement pour

eviter I'impact d'une chute.

Couvercle du bac & I_gumes

Pour retirer le couvercle du ou des bacs :

1. Retirer le(s) bac(s). En retenant fermement d'une main

I'insertion en verre, pousser vers le haut au centre de

I'insertion en verre jusqu'a ce qu'elle se souleve hors du

cadre en plastique. Glisser avec precaution I'insertion en

verre vers I'avant pour la retirer.

2. Soulever le cadre du couvercle et le retirer.

Le remisage d'aliments semblables au m_me niveau et le reglage

des tablettes a differentes hauteurs reduiront le temps

d'ouverture de la porte du refrigerateur, ce qui fera economiser

de I'energie.

Pour retirer et r_installer une tablette :

1. Enlever la tablette en la tirant legerement vers I'avant pour

aligner les butees de tablette avec les ouvertures dans la

paroi interne du compartiment refrigerateur. Soulever

verticalement et retirer la tablette completement &I'exterieur.

2. Reinstaller la tablette en abaissant les butees de la tablette

dans les ouvertures de la paroi interne du compartiment

refrigerateur. Glisser la tablette completement jusqu'au fond.

Tiroirs

Pour retirer et r_installer un tiroir :

1. Faire glisser le tiroir tout droit jusqu'a la butee. Soulever le

devant du tiroir et glisser le reste du tiroir completement.

2. Reinstaller un tiroir en le faisant glisser completement au-del&

de la butee.

Pour r_installer le couvercle du ou des bacs :

1. Introduire I'arriere du cadre du couvercle dans les supports

sur les parois laterales du refrigerateur et abaisser le devant

du cadre du couvercle en place.

2. Faire glisser I'arriere de I'insertion en verre dans le cadre du

couvercle et abaisser le devant en place.

Tiroir & viande r_glable (sur certains modules)

Le tiroir a viande peut _tre place du c6te droit ou du c6te gauche

dans le refrigerateur.

Pour retirer le tiroir _ viande :

1. Enlever le tiroir a viande et le couvercle (voir la section

"Tablettes du refrigerateur").

REMARQUE • Le couvercle du tiroir a viande a un support fixe

qui descend au centre de la tablette. Le support exterieur est

celui qui peut _tre ajuste.

2. /_,I'aide d'un tournevis Phillips, enlever le support reglable et

le deplacer a I'autre c6te du couvercle du tiroir a viande.

3. Placer le couvercle du tiroir a viande & I'endroit desire et

glisser le tiroir & viande pour le remettre en position.

Guide d'entreposage des viandes

La plupart des viandes peuvent _tre conservees dans leur

emballage original tant que cet emballage est hermetique et

I'epreuve de I'humidite. Emballer de nouveau si necessaire. Voir

le tableau suivant pour les periodes de conservation. Si la viande

doit _tre conservee pour une periode plus Iongue que la duree

donnee, faire congeler la viande.

Poissons ou crustaces frais ..................... utiliser le jour de I'achat

Poulet, boeuf hache, abats comestibles (foie) .............. 1 a 2 jours

Charcuterie, steaks/r6tis ............................................... 3 a 5 jours

Viandes salaisonnees .................................................. 7 a 10 jours

Les restes - Couvrir les restes avec de la pellicule en plastique ou

du papier d'aluminium, ou utiliser des contenants en plastique

avec couvercles hermetiques.

Vous pouvez regler le degre d'humidite dans le bach legumes

etanche h I'aide des reglages entre HIGH (61eve)et LOW (bas).

En position LOW (ouvert) le reglage laisse echapper I'air humide

pour mieux conserver les fruits et legumes h pelure.

• Fruits : Laver, laisser secher et mettre au refrig6rateur dans un

sac en plastique dans le bach legumes. Ne pas laver ni

equeuter les petits fruits avant le moment de leur utilisation.

Les trier et les conserver dans I'emballage original dans le

bach legumes.

• Legumes h pelure • Placer dans des sacs en plastique ou

contenants en plastique et ranger dans le bac a legumes.

En position HIGH (ferm6) le reglage permet de retenir I'humidite

I'interieur du bac pour mieux conserver les legumes frais et h

feuilles.

• Legumes h feuilles • Laver h I'eau froide, egoutter et couper

ou eliminer les sections endommagees et decolor6es. Placer

dans un sac ou un contenant en plastique et ranger dans le

bac a legumes.

Le panier coulissant procure un espace de rangement separ6

pour les articles difficiles h ranger sur les tablettes du

congelateur. Pour retirer le panier, le tirer et le soulever.

Pour abaisser et lever la barri_re d'entreposage :

1. Soulever legerement le sommet de la barriere, hors des

appuis. Tirer la barriere vers I'avant et vers le bas.

2. Retourner la grille h la position verticale. Soulever legerement

le sommet de la barriere pour la degager des appuis.

Abaisser la barriere dans les appuis.

CONGEIATEUR

Risque d'explosion

Utiliser un produit de nettoyage ininfiammable.

Le non=respect de cette instruction peut causer

un d_ces, une explosion ou un incendie.

Mode r_frig_rateur

Nettoyer le refrigerateur une fois par mois pour emp_cher une

accumulation d'odeurs. Essuyer les renversements

imm_diatement.

1. Debrancher le refrigerateur ou deconnecter la source de

courant electrique.

2. Retirer toutes les pieces amovibles de I'interieur, telles que

les tablettes, bacs, etc.

3. Laver h la main, rincer et secher les pieces amovibles et les

surfaces internes hfond. Utiliser une eponge propre ou un

linge doux et un detergent doux dans de I'eau tiede.

• Ne pas utiliser des nettoyants abrasifs tels que les

nettoyants h vitre en atomiseurs, nettoyants h recurer,

liquides inflammables, cires nettoyantes, detergents

concentres, eaux de Javel ou nettoyants contenant du

petrole sur les pieces en plastique, les garnitures

interieures, ou les joints de portes. Ne pas utiliser

d'essuie-tout, tampons h recurer ou autre outil de

nettoyage abrasif. Ces produits risquent d'egratigner ou

d'endommager les materiaux.

• Pour aider h eliminer les odeurs, on peut laver les parois

interieures avec un m_lange d'eau tiede et de

bicarbonate de soude (2 c. h soupe pour 1 pinte [26 g

pour 0,95 L] d'eau).

4. Replacer les pieces detachees.

5. Nettoyer I'exterieur si necessaire. Voir "Nettoyer le

refrigerateur exterieure" plus loin dans cette section.

6. Nettoyer regulierement les serpentins du condenseur. II se

peut que les serpentins aient besoin d'etre nettoyes aussi

souvent qu'a tousles deux mois. Ce nettoyage pourrait aider

h economiser de I'energie. Voir Nettoyage des serpentins du

condenseur plus loin dans cette section.

7. Brancher le refrigerateur ou reconnecter la source de courant

electrique.

Mode cong_lateur sans givre

"Sans givre" signifie que le congelateur n'aura jamais besoin

d'etre degivre. Le givre est enleve par I'air en circulation qui

accapare toute humidite et la depose sur le serpentin de

refroidissement. Le serpentin de refroidissement se rechauffe

periodiquement, juste assez pour faire fondre le givre, et ensuite

I'ecoule dans le plat d'egouttage (situ6 derriere la grille de la

base) o_ le liquide s'evapore.

Un nettoyage complet doit _tre fait au moins une fois par annee.

1. Debrancher le refrigerateur ou deconnecter la source de

courant electrique.

2. Retirer tous les aliments congeles. Envelopper les aliments

congeles dans plusieurs epaisseurs de journaux et recouvrir

d'une couverture. Les aliments demeureront congeles

pendant plusieurs heures. On peut aussi entreposer les

aliments congeles dans un contenant refroidisseur, un

congelateur additionnel de refrigerateur ou dans un endroit

froid.

3. Laver &la main, rincer et secher les pieces amovibles et les

surfaces internes & fond. Utiliser une eponge propre ou un

linge doux et un detergent doux dans de I'eau tiede.

• Ne pas utiliser des nettoyants abrasifs tels que les

nettoyants & vitre en atomiseurs, nettoyants & recurer,

liquides inflammables, cires nettoyantes, detergents

concentres, eaux de Javel ou nettoyants contenant du

petrole sur les pieces en plastique, les garnitures

interieures, ou les joints de portes. Ne pas utiliser

d'essuie-tout, tampons &recurer ou autre outil de

nettoyage abrasif. Ces produits risquent d'egratigner ou

d'endommager les materiaux.

• Pour aider & eliminer les odeurs, on peut laver les parois

interieures avec un melange d'eau tiede et de

bicarbonate de soude (2 c. & soupe pour 1 pinte [26 g

Utiliser la methode de nettoyage adequate pour votre finition

exterieure.

M_tal peint : Laver les surfaces exterieures avec une eponge

propre ou un linge doux et un detergent doux dans de I'eau

tiede. Ne pas utiliser de nettoyant fort ou abrasif, ni de

nettoyant con£;u pour I'acier inoxydable. Secher & fond avec

un linge doux. Pour mieux proteger les surfaces metalliques

exterieures peintes contre les dommages, appliquer une cire

pour appareil electromenager (ou cire en p&te pour

automobiles) avec un linge propre et doux. Ne pas cirer les

pieces en plastique.

Fini en acier inoxydable : Laver avec une eponge propre ou

un linge doux et un detergent doux dans de I'eau tiede. Ne

pas utiliser de nettoyants abrasifs. Secher &fond avec un

linge doux.

• Pour que votre refrigerateur en acier inoxydable conserve

son aspect neuf et pour enlever les petites egratignures

ou marques, il est suggere d'utiliser le Nettoyant et poli

pour acier inoxydable approuve par le fabricant.

IMPORTANT : Ce nettoyant doit _tre utilise sur les pieces en

acier inoxydable uniquement!

Veiller & ce que le nettoyant et poli pour acier inoxydable

n'entre pas en contact avec les pieces de plastique telles que

garnitures, couvercles de distributeurs ou joints de porte. En

cas de contact accidentel, nettoyer la piece de plastique

avec une eponge et un detergent doux et de I'eau tiede.

Secher &fond avec un linge doux. Pour commander le

nettoyant, voir la section "Accessoires".

Nettoyage des serpentions du condenseur

Ouvrir la porte et enlever la grille &la base en la retirant vers le

bas et vers I'exterieur & partir du sommet.

2. Enlever le plat de degivrage et le nettoyer avec une eponge

ou un linge doux propre et un detergent doux dans I'eau

tiede. Laver, rincer et essuyer completement.

3. Utiliser un aspirateur avec un accessoire long pour nettoyer

les serpentins du condenseur Iorsqu'ils sont poussiereux ou

sales.

4. Replacer le plat de degivrage.

5. Replacer la grille de la base en pla£;ant les agrafes dans les

ouvertures sur le panneau du refrigerateur. Appuyer jusqu'&

ce que la base s'enclenche en position.
