Please read these operating instructions carefully and follow
the instructions. Use these instructions to get to know the UVC
Pond Water Purifier, using it correctly and the safety information.
For safety reasons, children and young people under 16 years
of age and people who are not acquainted with these operating
instructions should not use this UVC Pond Water Purifier.

1. Range of Uses for Your GARDENA UVC Pond Water Purifier
The GARDENA UVC Pond Water Purifier is intended for domestic
use in the garden for intensive cleaning of pond water in outdoor
garden ponds.
9 W: max. 4000 l with fish / max. 8000 l without fish
11 W: max. 6000 l with fish / max. 12000 l without fish
The GARDENA UVC Pond Water Purifier should not be used
for industrial purposes or in combination with chemicals,
food, easily combustible or explosive substances. The tem-
perature of the liquid passing through the system must not
exceed 35 °C.

Purifier without the cleaning rotor.
The maximum permissible operating pressure

) is 0.5 bar.
Mains connection
The UVC Pond Water Purifier must be operat-
ed via a residual-current device (FI-switch)
with a nominal fault current ≤ 30 mA (DIN
VDE 0100-702 and 0100-738).
v Please ask an electrician.
The data on the type plate must match the
data for the power circuit.
v Unplug for winter storage, when not in use
and before maintenance!
The mains connection lead may only be re-
placed by a qualified electrician or GARDENA
Service.
Main connection leads should not have a
smaller cross-section than rubber hose leads
with the coding H05 RNF. Extension leads
must comply with DIN VDE 0620.
Do not use extension leads, connection leads
or adapters without a protective contact.
Do not carry the UVC Pond Water Purifier by
the cable and do not use the cable to pull the
plug out of the socket.
Please protect the cable from heat, oil and
sharp edges. Make sure that connection
points remain dry.
For Austria
In Austria power cables should correspond to
ÖVE-EM 42, T 2 (2000)/1979 § 22 according
to § 2022.1. According to this standard units
used in swimming pools and ponds should
only be operated via an isolating transformer.

For Switzerland
In Switzerland mobile appliances which are
used outdoors, must be connected via a
residual-current device.
Inspection
v Inspect the equipment before use to en-
sure that the UVC Pond Water Purifier,
especially the mains cable and plug, is
not damaged.
Do not use a damaged UVC Pond Water
Purifier. If damaged, have the UVC Pond
Water Purifier checked by GARDENA Service
or an approved electrician.
v Plug the pump into the mains before using
the UVC Pond Water Purifier.
Do not use the light if the mains connection
leads, glass tube or the housing of the UVC
Pond Water Purifier appear to be defective.
Never operate the UVC Pond Water Purifier
without water throughput.
Safety switch
If the UVC Pond Water Purifier overheats, it is
switched off by the built-in thermal protection
switch. The UVC Pond Water Purifier switches
itself on again automatically when it has
cooled down sufficiently.
Due to the integrated safety switch the lamp
only comes on when the UVC unit is properly
installed.
Setting Up
The distance from the pond must be at least
2 m to comply with VDE regulations.
Do not expose the UVC Pond Water Purifier
to direct sunlight.
3. Function
Intensive reduction of algae growth, fights harmful germs.
Irradiating the pond water with short wave UVC light kills algae
and bacteria.

For optimum pond purification it is essential that the flow rate
through the UVC outlet

does not exceed 1,600 l/h (approx.
4,5 litres / 10 seconds).
The throughput quantity at the UVC-light and therefore of the

Please use the appropriate hose diameter from the table to
achieve optimum pond purification.

1. Determine hose diameter for the hoses as shown in the table
above. When using a filter a 3/4 ” hose must always be used
at the UVC outlet

Purifier is set up at least 2 m from the edge of the pond.

ty. If you are using a fountain or other water feature, the
bypass control must be reduced by one level (e.g. with a
pumping capacity > 5,500 l/h, select setting “3000- 5000
l/h”). Additionally, you should seal off the bypass outlet using
the bypass cap

if the pumping capacity is less than 3,000
l/h.
9. If the pumping capacity is > 3,000 l /h connect the bypass
hose to the bypass outlet

10. Plug the mains plug of the pump into a 230 V AC socket.
11. Plug mains plug of the UVC Pond Water Purifier into a 230 V
AC socket.

4. Assembly
v Insert the bulb supplied in the pond purifier (see 7. Trouble-
Shooting
“Changing the Bulb”
).
The pond purifier can be mounted on a solid base (e. g. mounting
plate).
1. Drill holes in the mounting plate with a 4 mm drill bit to match
the template (150 mm x 58 mm).
2. Screw pond purifier on to the mounting plate with 4 self-tap-
ping screws (∅ 3.9 mm).
The screws may not extend more than 22 mm into the feet
of the housing for the pond purifier.
If the pond purifier is not mounted on a solid base, care must be
taken that the pond purifier is positioned on all four feet so that
it is level.
5. Initial Operation
The UVC Pond Water Purifier can be operated with or without
a filter.

When using the UVC Pond Water Purifier with another filter (e.g.
flow filter) a regulator valve may be required. In this case please
contact GARDENA Service.
The pond purifier must be set up at least 2 m away from the
edge of the pond (see example of connection).

The function of the UVC-light and the cleaning rotor can be
checked by the fact that the dot of light

rotates.
The UVC-light may not be operated without water through-
put, because the water is used to cool the UVC-light.
6. Cleaning
The UVC Pond Purifier is largely maintenance-free in continuous
operation because of the cleaning rotor. However relatively long
stationary periods or heavily contaminated water can lead to the
glass tube becoming cloudy because of lime deposits.
1. Unplug the UVC Pond Water Purifier and switch off the pump.

7. Trouble-Shooting
The UVC bulb should be replaced after approximately 8,000 oper-
ating hours since the UVC performance decreases dramatically
after this time.
Art. 7937 – 9 W:
Only bulbs of type 9 W TC-S (UV-C) should be used
(e. g. Radium: Puritec NSE 9-270, Philips: TUV PL-S 9W or
Sylvania: G9 LYNX-S GERMICIDAL).
Art. 7938 – 11 W:
Only bulbs of type 11 W TC-S (UV-C) should be used
(e. g. Radium: Puritec NSE 11-270, Philips: TUV PL-S 11W or
Sylvania: G11 LYNX-S GERMICIDAL).

8. Winter Storage
1. Clean UVC Pond Water Purifier thoroughly (see 6. Cleaning)
and dry it.
2. Store UVC Pond Water Purifier in a dry, frost-free place.

10. Service
GARDENA guarantees this product for 2 years (starting from the
date of purchase). This guarantee covers all serious defects of
the unit that can be proved to be material or manufacturing faults.
Under warranty we will either replace the unit or repair it free of
charge if the following conditions apply:
• The unit must have been handled properly and in keeping
with the requirements of the operating instructions.
• Neither the purchaser or a non-authorised third party have
attempted to repair the unit.
The light bulb (type 9 W TC-S (UV-C) / type 11 W TC-S (UV-C))
and the cleaning rotor are wearing parts and are not covered
by the guarantee.
This manufacturer’s guarantee does not affect the user’s existing
warranty claims against the dealer/seller.
If you have any problems with your pump, please contact our
Customer Service or return the defective unit together with
a short description of the problem directly to one of the
GARDENA Service Centres listed on the back of this leaflet.

responsabilizamos de daños causados por nuestros aparatos, siempre
y cuando dichos daños hayan sido originados por arreglos o reparaciones
indebidas, por recambios con piezas que no sean piezas originales
GARDENA o bien piezas autorizadas por nosotros, así como en aquellos
casos en que la reparación no haya sido efectuada por un Servicio Téc-
nico GARDENA o por un técnico autorizado. Lo mismo es aplicable para
las piezas complementarias y accesorios.

Responsabilidade
Queremos salientar que segundo a lei da responsabilidade do fabricante,
sobre o produto
nós não nos responsabilizaremos por danos causados pelo nosso equipa-
mento, quando estes ocorram em decorrência de reparações inadequadas
ou da substituição de peças por peças não originais da GARDENA, ou pe-
ças não autorizadas. A responsabilidade tornar-se-à nula também depois
de reparações realizadas por oficinas não autorizadas pela GARDENA.
Esta restrição valerá também para peças adicionais e acessórios.
