2. Drinkingofalcoholicbeveragesbeforeorduringspaorhottubusecancausedrowsiness,which

couldleadtounconsciousnessandsubsequentlyresultindrowning.

3. Pregnantwomenbeware!Soakinginwaterabove100°F[38°C]cancausefetaldamageduringthe

rstthreemonthsofpregnancy(resultinginthebirthofabrain-damagedordeformedchild).Preg-

nantwomenshouldadheretothe100°F[38°C]maximumrule.

4. Beforeenteringthespaorhottub,usersshouldcheckthewatertemperaturewithanaccuratether-

6. Ifthepool/spaisusedfortherapy,itshouldbedonewiththeadviceofaphysician.Alwaysstirpool/

spawaterbeforeenteringthepool/spatomixinanyhotsurfacelayerofwaterthatmightexceed

healthfultemperaturelimitsandcauseinjury.Donottamperwithcontrols,becausescaldingcan

7. Personswithamedicalhistoryofheartdisease,circulatoryproblems,diabetesorbloodpressure

problemsshouldobtainaphysiciansadvicebeforeusingspasorhottubs.

8. Hyperthermiaoccurswhentheinternaltemperatureofthebodyreachesalevelseveraldegrees

abovenormalbodytemperatureof98.6°F[37°C].ThesymptomsofHyperthermiainclude:drowsi-

ness,lethargy,dizziness,fainting,andanincreaseintheinternaltemperatureofthebody.

The effects of Hyperthermia include:

1. Unawarenessofimpendingdanger.

2. Failuretoperceiveheat.

3. Failuretorecognizetheneedtoleavethespa.

4. Physicalinabilitytoexitthespa.

TheheatexchangerinyourHaywardpoolheaterismadefromthehighestqualityofcopperandnickel

(Cupronickel)materials.Thepremiummaterialsandtheexactingprocessesusedinthemanufactureofthe

heatexchangerisstateoftheartinpoolheaterdesignandmanufacture.Yet,itremainsvitalthattheheatex-

changerbeprotectedfromdamagingorcorrosivechemicals,insufcientwateroworimproperlybalanced

waterchemistry.Heatexchangerdamageorfailureresultingfromimproperow,improperlybalancedpool

waterortheimproperadditionofsanitizersintothewaterisNOTcoveredunderthetermsofyourwarranty.

Thefollowingfactorsarecriticaltoheatexchangerprotection.Followtheseguidelinestohelpprevent

pre-maturedamageorfailuretoyourheaterandheatexchanger.

1. WATER FLOW THROUGH HEATER

 Watermustbeowingthroughtheheaterattheminimumratedowrateduringoperation.Checkthat

thepumpisoperatingandthesystemislledwithwaterandpurgedofallairpriortostartingtheheater.The

minimumratedowratesarelistedintheinstallationmanualonpage26.Someinstallationsmayrequirean

adjustmenttothewaterpressureswitchforproperlow-owprotection.Testyoursystemandifnecessary,

adjustthewaterpressureswitchasdescribedintheinstallationmanualonpage36.

2. POOL/SPA WATER CHEMISTRY

 Thechemistrybalanceandmineralcontentofswimmingpoolwaterchangesdailyduetotheadditionof

poolandsanitizingchemicals,batherloads,rain,runoffandtheamountofsun-tonameafew.Improperchem-

istrybalanceandmineralcontentcancausescalinganddepositstoformonpoolwalls,intheltrationsystem,

intheheatexchangertubesandadditionallycanpromotecorrosiveactiontoallmetalsinthewaterpath.Chang-

ingspawaterregularlyandmaintainingthecorrectchemicalbalanceinyourpool/spawillkeepthepool/spa

safeandsanitary,andwillhelpprotecttheheatexchanger.Usea4-waypool/spawatertestkittocheckyour

waterfrequently(atleastweekly).Usethefollowingguidelinestohelpprotectyourheater’sheatexchanger:

TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT

This pool heater is equipped with a digital thermostat which allows the user to select the desired

water temperature. The heater will then function automatically to maintain the desired

temperature. The heater has 3 modes of operation:

1. STANDBY: in this mode, the heater will not function to heat the water.

2. SPA: in this mode, the heater will automatically function to maintain the water

temperature setting for SPA mode.

3. POOL: in this mode, the heater will automatically function to maintain the water

temperature setting for POOL mode.

Use the MODE button to change modes. The indicator lights will illuminate to show which mode

the heater is currently in. Each mode has its own temperature setting, allowing the user to have

2 individual pre-set temperature settings. To adjust the temperature while in SPA or POOL

mode, use the UP and DOWN buttons. The numeric display will flash to indicate the

temperature setting is being displayed / adjusted. When the numeric display is not flashing, the

actual water temperature is being displayed. The temperature settings for both SPA and POOL

modes are initially set at the factory to 65°F. The minimum allowed settings for SPA and POOL

modes are both 65°F. The maximum allowed settings for SPA and POOL modes are adjustable

up to 104°F using the temperature lockout feature (see below).

After selecting SPA or POOL mode or adjusting the temperature setting, it is normal for the

heater to delay up to 10 seconds before the heater starts operating. This delay is an internal

self-test of the heater. On occasion, the numeric display may show a diagnostic error code;

refer to list of diagnostic error codes in Figure 4. Pressing the MODE button to cycle to

STANDBY and back to SPA or POOL will clear a diagnostic error code. When clearing a

4. CHLORINATOR INSTALLATION

 Chlorinatorsmustbeinstalleddownstreamoftheheater,andacheckvalvemustbeinstalledbetweenthe

heaterandchlorinatortopreventhighchemicalconcentrationsfrombackowingintotheheater.Makesureyour

pipingarrangementmeetsthechlorinatorinstallationrequirementsshownintheinstallationmanualonpage26.

5. BYPASS

Untilwaterchemistryisproperlybalanced,andifyourpipinghasabypassvalveinstalledfortheheater,

openthebypasssothatcorrosiveandpotentiallydamagingwaterwillnotowthroughtheheaterandthere-

foretheheatexchanger.Closethebypassvalveoncethewaterisproperlybalanced.Failuretoclosethe

bypassvalvewhenattemptingtooperatetheheaterwillresultinextensivedamagetotheheatexchanger.

Ensurewaterowthroughtheheaterisrestoredbeforeoperatingtheheater.Abypassfeatureisalsoadvanta-

geousforserviceneedsandfortheabilitytoremovetheheaterfromthewaterpathwhennotheating.Refer

topage26intheinstallationmanualforfurtherinformation.

HEATER OPERATION:

Fulllightingandshutdowninstructionsareincludedonthelighting&operatinginstructionslabelafxed

forbothSPAandPOOLmodesareinitiallysetatthefactoryto65°F.TheminimumallowedsettingsforSPA

AfterselectingSPAorPOOLmodeoradjustingthetemperaturesetting,itisnormalfortheheaterto

delayupto10secondsbeforetheheaterstartsoperating.Thisdelayisaninternalself-testoftheheater.On

TEMPERATURE LOCK-OUT

The digital thermostat in this pool heater allows the user to lock the maximum temperature

setting allowed. This feature is useful for preventing unauthorized users from manually adjusting

the temperature settings higher than desired. On a new heater, the maximum allowed

temperature lock settings are initially set at the factory to 90°F for POOL mode, and 104°F for

SPA mode. To adjust these settings, use the following procedure:

1. Use the MODE button to put the heater in STANDBY mode.

2. Press and hold both the UP and DOWN buttons at the same time.

3. After 3 seconds, the thermostat enters maximum temperature lock adjustment mode.

4. The SPA indicator light illuminates and the numeric display shows the current SPA mode

maximum temperature lock setting. Both the SPA indicator light and the numeric display

flashes rapidly when in adjustment mode.

5. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to set the desired maximum temperature lock setting.

When finished, press the MODE button.

6. The POOL indicator light illuminates and the numeric display shows the current POOL

mode maximum temperature lock setting. Both the POOL indicator light and the

numeric display flashes rapidly when in adjustment mode.

7. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to set the desired maximum temperature lock. When

finished, press the MODE button.

8. The heater will return to STANDBY mode.

WINTERIZATION:

Inmoderateclimates,theheatercancontinuetooperateduringshort-termcoldspells.Donotusethe

avoidfreeze-upintheheater.Whenitisusedduringfreezingweather,thepumpmustruncontinuously.The

qui a des fuites dans des conditions normales d’utilisation et d’entretien dans un délai d’un an de la date d’installation initiale

pour tous les utilisateurs.

2. En outre, nous remplacerons (les frais d’expédition, d’installation, de combustible et de main d’œuvre de service étant à la

charge de l’utilisateur) ou, selon notre option, nous réparerons toute pièce ou toutes les pièces du réchauffeur de piscine/spa

qui sont défaillantes dans des conditions normales d’utilisation et d’entretien dans un délai d’un an de la date d’installation

initiale pour tous les utilisateurs.

LIMITATION DES GARANTIES IMPLICITES : NOUS NE SOMMES PAS RESPONSABLES POUR TOUT DOMMAGE

CONSÉCUTIF À LA VIOLATION DE TOUTE GARANTIE ÉCRITE OU IMPLICITE DE CE PRODUIT. Les garanties implicites,

y compris la GARANTIE de VALEUR MARCHANDE, et toutes les autres garanties implicites qui peuvent apparaître dans le

processus de vente ou les usages commerciaux imposés à la vente de ce réchauffeur selon les lois de l’état sont limitées à la durée

d’un (1) an pour tous les utilisateurs. Il n’existe aucune garantie qui se prolonge au-delà de la description des présentes. Nous

n’assumerons en aucun cas une responsabilité quelconque pour tout dommage spécial, indirect ou consécutif.

FRAIS DE LIVRAISON ET D’INSTALLATION :

Chaque réchauffeur de piscine ou pièce de rechange à fournir dans le cadre de cette garantie sera fourni à l’endroit de notre

centre de distribution le plus proche. Nous ne paierons pas, et nous ne serons pas responsables pour payer, les frais d’expédition ou de

livraison au lieu d’installation, ni les frais de main d’œuvre ou autres coûts associés à la dépose ou l’installation. Chaque réchauffeur

ou pièce défectueux remplacé dans le cadre de cette garantie deviendra notre propriété et, en tant que tel, doit être renvoyé à notre

centre de distribution, avec les frais de transport payés par l’utilisateur. Tout réchauffeur de piscine de rechange fourni dans le cadre

de cette garantie restera couvert par la garantie uniquement pour la période de couverture non expirée de cette garantie.

CONDITIONS ET EXCEPTIONS :

Cette garantie concerne uniquement la piscine/le spa à son lieu original d’installation, et seulement pour le propriétaire original.

Elle n’est pas applicable si le réchauffeur de piscine est installé en violation de tout code ou décret applicable, ou n’est pas installé,

utilisé et maintenu conformément à nos instructions, ou est mal utilisé, endommagé par accident, par les intempéries, par un cas de

force majeure, par le gel, par l’absence d’eau et/ou les excès de pression, altéré ou déconnecté. Elle ne s’applique pas à ce qui suit :

1. Un réchauffeur non équipé de contrôles de limite certiés C.S.A. ou d’une soupape de détente de pression équivalente.

2. Un réchauffeur utilisé avec des réglages excédant ceux de la plaque des valeurs nominales, et/ou avec un combustible non

conforme à ces réglages ;

3. Un réchauffeur sur lequel les numéros de série ont été modiés, dégurés ou retirés ;

4. Des fuites dues à une installation défectueuse ;

5. La production de bruit, d’odeur ou d’eau décolorée (rouillée, etc.) ;

6. Les fuites dues essentiellement aux sédiments, aux précipités de chaux et/ou à une concentration de solides dissous supérieure

à la normale (pH supérieur à 7,8) dans le réservoir, les tubes en cuivre ou les canalisations d’eau ;

7. Les fuites dues essentiellement à des éléments corrodants dans l’atmosphère (tels que le stockage du chlore ou d’autres

produits chimiques) ;

8. Les fuites causées ou contribuées essentiellement par l’eau de piscine corrodante dans un état acide (pH inférieur à 7,2) ;

9. Les dommages causés ou contribués essentiellement par une source extérieure d’énergie ;

10. Un réchauffeur de piscine/spa est un dispositif qui contient de l’eau. Les fuites d’eau de ce dispositif peuvent être anticipées à

un moment donné à cause de la défaillance ou des limitations de durée de service des divers composants.

Erreur d'allumeur ouvert Si le contrôle n'est pas dans le mode de verrouillage et détecte que le circuit de l'allumeur

est ouvert lorsque la soufante est en marche, le contrôle arrête la soufante et entre

dans le mode de verrouillage. Redémarrage automatique 2 minutes après la correction de

l'erreur.

Erreur de thermistor Une différence de température excessive entre les deux thermistors (5°F ou plus) ou une

condition «hors limite » des deux capteurs (moins de 10°F ou plus de 180°F) conduit au

code d'erreur. Redémarrage automatique 2 minutes après la correction de l'erreur.

Erreur de détection de

température de l’eau

A) Le capteur de température d’arrivée d’eau signale une température supéri-

eure à 40°C (104°F). Le fonctionnement normal reprend 2 minutes après que le

capteur de température d’arrivée d’eau ait signalé des températures de 40°C ou

moins. Cette erreur se produit dans les modes de thermostat normal et à distance.

B) Le capteur de température d’arrivée d’eau signale un changement de tempéra-

ture à un taux plus rapide que 3,33°C (6°F) en 60 secondes, ce qui indique une

condition de débit d’eau faible potentiellement nuisible. Le fonctionnement nor-

mal reprend lorsque les températures se stabilisent. Si cette condition est détec-

tée trois fois dans une période d’une heure, le chauffe-piscine/spa se verrouillera

jusqu’à ce que l’alimentation électrique passe par un cycle complet en fonction/

hors fonction.

Erreur de bouton de clavier

coincé à l'état enfoncé

Si l'un des boutons du clavier est enfoncé pendant plus de 30 sec, le code d'erreur

s'afche mais le contrôle continue à fonctionner. Le code d'erreur est effacé lorsque la

condition est corrigée.

Erreur d'échec d'allumage Si le contrôle dépasse le nombre maximum de nouveaux essais d'allumage ou de cycle,

le réchauffeur s'arrête et entre dans le mode de verrouillage. Réinitialisation automatique

au bout de 60 minutes.

Erreur de communication Si les communications entre la carte d'allumage et la carte d'afchage ne sont pas

établies dans un délai de 3 sec après la mise sous tension, une erreur est afchée. Après

l'établissement des communications, et si elles sont perdues pendant 30 sec, l'erreur est

afchée. Le code d'erreur est effacé sur échange de données valide entre les cartes.

Erreur de chaîne limite

ouverte

Si la chaîne limite s'ouvre, le réchauffeur s'arrête et entre dans le mode de verrouillage.

Le redémarrage automatique a lieu 2 minutes après la correction de l'erreur et la

fermeture de la chaîne limite. Voir ci-dessous pour de plus amples détails.

EE Erreur de EEPROM Une erreur a été detectée dans la carte de circuit de commande d’allumage.

mise sous tension

Lors de l'essai initial d'allumage. La réinitialisation automatique est immédiate une fois

que le relais de la soupape de gaz vérie que les résultats sont acceptables.

Détection d'erreur ON (de

marche) de la soupape à

gaz

Si la soupape est ouverte lorsqu'elle devrait être fermée, le réchauffeur s'arrête et entre

dans le mode de verrouillage. La soufante fonctionne jusqu'à ce que la condition

d'erreur soit corrigée. Redémarrage automatique 2 minutes après la correction de l'erreur.

Détection d'erreur OFF

(d'arrêt) de la soupape à

gaz

Si la soupape est fermée mais une amme est détectée, la soufante fonctionne pendant

5 sec, puis une nouvelle séquence d'allumage commence. Si l'erreur se produit 10

fois pendant une demande de chaleur, le contrôle entre dans le mode de verrouillage.

Réinitialisation automatique au bout de 60 minutes.

Erreur de récupération des

données

Si les données d'entrée de contrôle sont corrompues, le réchauffeur s'arrête et entre dans

le mode de verrouillage.

Erreur de amme présente

avec la soupape à gaz OFF

(arrêtée)

Si la amme est détectée avec la soupape à gaz arrêtée, le contrôle entre dans le mode de

verrouillage. La soufante fonctionne jusqu'à ce que la condition d'erreur soit corrigée.

Une fois corrigée, le contrôle fait marcher la soufante pendant 5 sec, puis redémarre

automatiquement au bout de 2 minutes.

Erreur de câblage de

l'alimentation électrique

Ce code s'afche si la polarité de 120 V est inversée, si une tension basse est détectée,

ou si le chemin de mise à la terre n'est pas sufsant. La réinitialisation est immédiate une

fois que l'erreur est corrigée.

Déecteur d'interrupteur

d'alimentation ouvert

Si l'interrupteur d'alimentation de la soufante ne se ferme pas après le démarrage de la

soufante, le contrôle arrête l'essai d'allumage et entre dans le mode de verrouillage. La

soufante continue à fonctionner. La réinitialisation automatique est immédiate après la

fermeture de l'interrupteur.

Déecteur d'interrupteur de

vérication ouvert lorsqu'il

est anticipé être fermé

Si l'interrupteur de vérication de la soufante s'ouvre subitement pendant le

fonctionnement, le contrôle d'arrête et essaie un ré-allumage. Si l'interrupteur ne se ferme

pas après le démarrage de la soufante, le contrôle entre dans le mode de verrouillage

avec la soufante en marche. La réinitialisation automatique est immédiate après la

correction de l'erreur.

Déecteur d'interrupteur de

vérication ouvert pendant

la post-purge

Si l'interrupteur de vérication de la soufante s'ouvre pendant le cycle de post-purge (le

réchauffeur ne chauffe pas), le contrôle afche le code d'erreur. Le cycle de post-purge

est complété une fois que l'interrupteur de vérication de la soufante se ferme.

Déecteur d'interrupteur de

vérication fermé lorsqu'il

est anticipé être ouvert

Si l'interrupteur de vérication de la soufante est fermé avant le démarrage de la

soufante, le contrôle ne fait pas démarrer la soufante. La réinitialisation automatique

est immédiate lorsque l'interrupteur s'ouvre.
