Symbols and warnings

DANGER indicates a hazardous situation which, if not

avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not

CAUTION indicates a hazardous situation which, if not

avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.

NOTICE indicates a situation which, if not avoided, could

result in damage to the Croozer or the environment.

Tip: In this manual, “Tip” indicates helpful advice about

the use or maintenance of the Croozer.

Warnings

Read and observe this manual

This manual contains information that is extremely

important for the safe transport of your child. Therefore,

it is essential that you read the entire manual carefully

and follow the instructions closely. If you should experi-

ence difculties understanding any of the information or

instructions, please contact your Croozer dealer. Keep this

manual handy at all times for future reference. If you loan

or sell your Croozer, pass on this manual to the new user.

It is also vitally important that you read and observe the

instructions provided in the manual of the towing bicycle.

Who can ride in the Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer Kid?

Bicycle trailer

When you are pulling the Croozer as a bicycle trailer, child

passengers must be at least 12 months (USA and Canada)

or 6 months (Australia and New Zealand) of age. All child

passengers must be able to sit upright unassisted. Chil-

dren who are not able to sit upright without support do not

have fully developed muscles and could therefore experi-

ence injury when riding in the Croozer. The transport of

children under 12 months (USA and Canada) or 6 months

(Australia and New Zealand) of age is not permitted.

Stroller and jogger

Children between 1 and 10 months of age can be trans-

ported in an Infant Sling (available as accessory) in the

stroller or jogger, but not in the trailer.

Never use the Croozer for transporting children over the

age of approx. 6 years or taller than the maximum height

of 46 inches (117 cm).

The Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer Kid for 2 can carry

one or two children, and the Croozer Kid and Croozer Kid

Plus for 1, only one child. Never transport more than two

children in the Croozer Kid Plus or Croozer Kid for 2, and

never transport more than one child in the Croozer Kid

Plus or Croozer Kid for 1.

Who can ride the towing bicycle?

Be sure to familiarize yourself with the legal requirements

of the country, state, or region where you plan to use the

Croozer.

Requirements for the towing bicycle

The towing bicycle must be approved by its manufacturer

for pulling a trailer. This information can be found in the

owner’s manual of the bicycle. Furthermore, the towing

bicycle must be in perfect working order and have two in-

dependently operated brakes that function properly in any

weather. Brakes that are not in perfect working order could

cause accidents with serious injury or death.

The rear wheel of the towing bicycle must be equipped

with an effective fender with mud flap. Otherwise, the

passenger(s) could be injured by stones and other debris

thrown up from the road.

Motorized vehicles may not be used for pulling bicycle trail-

ers. The only exception to this rule is an electric bike with

a pedal-assist (pedelec) system that only delivers assist

when the rider pedals and whose maximum speed under

motor power is no greater than 15 mph (25 km/h). Electric

bikes with a maximum motor-assisted speed of more than

15 mph (25 km/h) may not be used for pulling the trailer.

The towing bicycle should be equipped with a sturdy rear-

mount kickstand to ensure safety when passengers are

getting in and out of the trailer. A bicycle that is not held se-

curely in an upright position when children are getting into

or out of the trailer could tip over, causing serious injury to

the children or others.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with the legal requirements

for towing bicycles in the country, state, or region where

you plan to use the Croozer.

The towing bicycle must have a 26” to 29” (559 to 635-

mm) rear wheel. This information can be found on the tire

sidewalls. The numbers 42-622, for example, indicate that

the tire has a width of 42 mm and a bead-seat diameter of

622 mm (28 inches).

Legal requirements for transporting children

Be sure to observe all laws that apply to the transport of

children in child trailers. Some countries and states prohibit

the transport of children in child trailers, and others pre-

scribe certain age limits. In case of doubt, be sure to famil-

iarize yourself with the legal requirements of the country,

state, or region where you plan to use the Croozer.

Suitable accessories and original spare parts

Only use original spare parts and accessories that have

been approved by Croozer Inc. These are the only com-

ponents that can be used safely with the Croozer. When in

doubt, consult a Croozer dealer. The use of non-approved

accessories or incompatible spare parts could result in ac-

cidents with serious injury or death. Croozer Inc. cannot be

held responsible for any damage resulting from the use of

non-approved accessories or incompatible spare parts.

Safety Guidelines

Changes and modications

For safety reasons, no modifications or changes can be

made to the Croozer.

Do not use add-on components, such as luggage racks,

etc. Do not use a car seat or any type of seat or seat

support that has not been approved by Croozer Inc. Do

not install electric drive systems. Making modifications or

changes to your Croozer can result in accidents with seri-

ous injury or death. Furthermore, changes or modifications

to the vehicle will void any warranty claims. Croozer Inc.

cannot be held responsible for any damages.

Use near re

Do not use the Croozer near a fire or open flame. It could

catch fire, which can cause serious injury or death.

Storage and transport

Never transport the Croozer – even when folded – on the

roof of a motor vehicle, as this could damage the fabric

body. Furthermore, the Croozer could come loose and

cause accidents with serious injury or death.

Assembly and repair

The Croozer must be properly assembled to professional

standards. Be sure to follow the assembly instructions in

this manual. When in doubt, contact a Croozer dealer.

All repairs must be carried out to professional standards

using only original parts, ideally by a professional bicycle

mechanic. Incorrect assembly or repair work could result in

accidents with serious injury or death.

Do not use plastic bags or packaging in cribs, beds, car-

riages, or playpens. Plastic bags and packaging materi-

als can be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation,

keep plastic bags and packaging away from babies and

children. Babies and children could pull plastic bags or

packaging over their heads and suffocate.

Choking hazard! The shipping box contains small parts that

could present a choking hazard to young children. To avoid

serious injuries or death, keep small parts away from young

children.

The locking mechanisms of the Croozer must be properly

engaged. Otherwise, the frame of the Croozer could col-

lapse while in use, potentially resulting in serious injuries

for the passenger(s).

The parking brakes must be correctly adjusted! If the park-

ing brakes have not been correctly adjusted, the parked

Croozer could roll away unexpectedly, resulting in acci-

dents with serious injuries or death.

After you have attached the wheels, it is vitally important that

you check whether the axles are securely locked into the

axle receivers by firmly pulling on the wheels. It should not be

possible to remove the wheels without pressing on the dust

cap. Wheels that have not been securely attached can fall off

while riding, resulting in accidents with serious injury or death.

The handlebar must be securely locked in place in the frame

tubes. Otherwise, the handlebar could fall off when you are

pushing it, and the Croozer could roll away unintentionally,

resulting in accidents with serious injury or death.

When the Croozer is being used as a bicycle trailer, the

handlebar must remain securely attached at all times. If

the trailer should ever tip over, the handlebar acts as a roll

bar, helping to prevent injuries.

The safety strap for the handlebar must be securely

mounted at all times. The safety strap ensures that the

handlebar cannot slip out of the frame when the Croozer is

in use. Failure to keep the safety strap mounted can result

in serious injury or death.

It is vitally important that the axle hitch be properly installed.

An improperly installed axle hitch could come loose while

riding and cause accidents with serious injury or death.

The rear wheel of the towing bicycle must be properly

secured after the axle hitch has been mounted. Riding

with an improperly fastened rear wheel can result in ac-

cidents with serious injury or death. Follow the instructions

and warnings given in the owner’s manual of the towing

bicycle. There are many different types of axles. When in

doubt, consult a professional bicycle mechanic.

As applicable, always check that the jogger-kit compo-

nents or stroller wheel has been properly mounted. Using

the vehicle with improperly installed jogger-kit components

or an improperly mounted stroller wheel could result in ac-

cidents with serious injury or death. When in doubt, consult

a professional bicycle mechanic.

Adult supervision

Never leave a child in the Croozer unattended, not even

briefly. In your absence, hazardous, unforeseen situations

could arise, including accidents with serious injury or death.

Special considerations when riding with the bicycle

trailer

Before each outing, check that no part of the bicycle trailer

could come in contact with the brakes, pedals, or handle-

bars of the towing bicycle. Failure to do so could result in

accidents with serious injury or death.

Check the tire pressure before each use. The actual tire pres-

sure should never be higher or lower than the maximum and

minimum inflation pressures marked on the tire sidewalls.

Riding with under-inflated tires can damage the tires and rims.

Overinflation can cause the inner tube or tire to explode, which

could result in accidents with serious injury or death.

The back of the Croozer must be equipped with a CPSC-

approved (USA and Canada) or AS/NZS 2063:2008-ap-

proved (Australia and New Zealand) rear (red) reflector.

If the Croozer is not equipped with a rear reflector, other

road users may not be able to see you, which could result

in accidents with serious injury or death.

When riding at night, dusk, or dawn – or when visibility

is in any way reduced – both the Croozer and the towing

bicycle must be equipped with active lighting systems (i.e.

equipment that makes its own light.) The front reflectors of

the Croozer do not qualify as active lighting equipment. If

you ride at night or in conditions of poor visibility without an

appropriate lighting system, other road users may not be

able to see you, which could result in accidents with seri-

ous injury or death.

When pulling the Croozer as a bicycle trailer, the safety flag

must be properly installed at all times. If the safety flag is not

properly installed, other road users may fail to see the Croozer,

which could result in accidents with serious injury or death.

When riding with the bicycle trailer, always close the mesh

cover, or additionally the plastic window, to prevent insects,

stones and other debris from flying into the passenger

compartment and injuring passengers.

Never use the bicycle trailer to transport children under

12 months (USA and Canada) or 6 months (Australia and

New Zealand) of age or any child who is not able to sit

upright unassisted. The seats and safety harnesses are de-

signed for older children up to 46 inches (117 cm) in height.

In dangerous situations, a baby could slip out from under

the safety harnesses, resulting in serious injury or death.

Always check to make sure that the axle hitch is locked secure-

ly in the hitch connector. If the axle hitch is not locked securely

in the hitch connector, the Croozer could become unhitched

while riding, resulting in accidents with serious injury or death.

Never pull the Croozer as a bicycle trailer without the safe-

ty strap securely fastened to the towing bicycle. The safety

strap ensures that the Croozer would remain connected to

the towing bicycle if the hitch connector were to fall off the

axle hitch. Riding without safety strap fastened can result

in accidents with serious injury or death.

Reduce your speed when riding on paths or streets with

bumps or uneven surfaces to keep the ride as smooth

and safe as possible for your passenger(s). Reduce your

speed when turning. Otherwise the centrifugal force could

cause the trailer to tip over. Riding too fast could cause the

bicycle trailer to skid or even tip over, resulting in accidents

with serious injury or death.

Always reduce your speed when riding downhill. Riding at

excessive speeds can cause the trailer to skid and result in

accidents with serious injury or death.

Riding over a curb or other obstacle with only one wheel

of the trailer could cause the trailer to tip over, resulting in

accidents with serious injury or death. Empty trailers are

especially susceptible to tipping. Therefore, if you have to

ride over a curb or similar obstacle, always use extreme

caution and ride at very low speeds.

The children riding in the bicycle trailer (and the rider of the

towing bicycle) should wear a CPSC-approved (USA and

Canada) or AS/NZS 2063:2008-approved (Australia and

New Zealand) helmet. In the case of an accident, a helmet

provides additional protection. In some countries, the use

of helmets is required by law.

Always make sure that the child cannot reach the wheels of

the Croozer or the rear wheel of the towing bicycle. Touch-

ing wheels that are in motion could result in serious injuries.

Always set the parking brake when releasing the handle-

bar of the parked/stopped Croozer. After setting the park-

ing brake, be sure to check that the wheels are securely

locked by giving the Croozer a gentle push and pull. If the

parking brake is not correctly engaged, the Croozer could

roll into harm’s way, resulting in accidents with serious

injury or death.

Fastening the harness

Children riding in the vehicle must be strapped into the

safety harnesses at all times. Otherwise, in dangerous

situations, the child could fall out of the seat, resulting in

serious injury or death.

Failure to adjust the straps of the safety harness properly

or to fasten the buckles correctly could result in serious

injury or death in the event of an accident.

The distance between the child’s body and the shoulder

straps and lap belts must be as small as possible to ensure

that the passenger is held securely in the seat. If the distance

is too great, the safety harness may not be able to hold the

child securely, which in the event of an accident could result

in serious injury or death. However, straps that press too

tightly against the child’s body can cause discomfort.

Never fasten the harness of a seat with no passenger. A

child can strangle in loose harness straps, resulting in seri-

ous injury or death.

Special considerations when pushing the jogger or

stroller

Never push the Croozer without the handlebar safety strap

securely fastened between the handlebar and the fabric

body. The safety strap ensures that the handlebar cannot

slip out of the frame when the Croozer is in use. Riding

without the safety strap fastened can result in accidents

with serious injury or death.

When using the jogger or stroller, it is vitally important that

you keep the safety wrist strap fastened securely around

your wrist at all times. Otherwise, the handlebar of the jog-

ger or stroller could slip out of your grip, e.g. if you were to

stumble or fall. In such cases, the Croozer could roll away,

resulting in accidents with serious injury or death.

The Croozer with the jogger kit installed is not approved for

skating. Skating with the jogger could result in accidents

with serious injury or death.

The Croozer with the stroller kit installed is not approved

for jogging or skating. Jogging or skating with the stroller

could result in accidents with serious injury or death.

Always set the parking brake when releasing the handlebar of

the parked/stopped Croozer. After setting the parking brake,

be sure to check that the wheels are securely locked by giv-

ing the Croozer a gentle push and pull. If the parking brake is

not correctly engaged, the Croozer could roll into harm’s way,

resulting in accidents with serious injury or death.

Load capacity

Never carry more than the maximum allowable weight.

Doing so can severely affect the Croozer’s handling and

cause accidents with serious injury or death.

Overloading the rear cargo compartment or the optional

Handlebar Bag could cause the Croozer to tip backwards,

resulting in serious injuries for your child.

Cargo in the rear cargo compartment must always be well

secured to ensure that it cannot shift during transport. Loose

cargo can change the handling of the Croozer, which could

cause accidents with serious injury or death. Furthermore,

loose cargo items can fall against the seatback when brak-

ing and injure the passenger(s) in the Croozer.

Never transport cargo items together with children on the

seat or in the foot area. The cargo could shift during trans-

port and injure the Croozer passenger(s).

Never use the handlebar for carrying loads, such as

children’s vehicles or bags (other than the Handlebar Bag

available as an accessory). Loading the handlebar could

cause the Croozer to tip backwards, resulting in serious

injuries for your child.

Never ride with a hitch-arm load that is outside the speci-

fied range of 6.6 to 17.6 lbs (3–8 kg). Always distribute

the load evenly. Failure to do so could compromise the

handling properties and cause accidents with serious injury

or death.

Safety Guidelines

Technical condition

Never use the Croozer if it is not in perfect working order.

Damaged parts could cause accidents with serious injury

or death. Therefore, be sure to have your Croozer ser-

viced regularly – at least once a year – by a professional

Croozer dealer.

It is vitally important that the specified maintenance work

be performed to professional standards and at the required

intervals.

Never use the Croozer if its fabric body is damaged in any

way. If there are any tears or holes in the fabric, your child

may be able to reach through them and touch the wheel

spokes, which could result in serious injuries. If you notice

any damage, do not use the Croozer until it has been

properly repaired.

The retaining balls and push-button pins of the axles must

be cleaned and lubricated on a regular basis. Otherwise, a

wheel could fall off while riding, resulting in accidents with

serious injury or death.

Caution

USA and Canada: Not for use with children under

12 months old or children who are not able to sit upright

unassisted. The use of a bicycle trailer for children under

12 months of age can cause serious injuries.

Australia and New Zealand: Not for use with children un-

der 6 months old or children who are not able to sit upright

unassisted. The use of a bicycle trailer for children under

6 months of age can cause serious injuries.

Make sure children are clear of any moving parts when

you are installing or removing components or making ad-

justments to the Croozer. Otherwise they may be injured.

Risk of pinching or crushing! There are pinch points be-

tween the seat frame and Croozer frame, as well as in the

locking mechanism, that may cause painful injuries to the

fingers or hands during assembly.

After installing the stroller kit, always check that the stroller

wheel is engaged securely in the socket and cannot be

pulled out without pressing the button. If the stroller wheel

is not locked securely in the socket, it could fall off while in

use, resulting in accidents with injuries.

Never leave the stroller wheel attached when using the

Croozer as a bicycle trailer. The stroller wheel could get

caught on obstacles as you pass, resulting in accidents

with injuries.

With its weave density and coating, the fabric of the Crooz-

er cover offers roughly the same level of UV protection

as normal articles of clothing. The materials do not offer

additional UV protection. The plastic windows do not offer

any protection from the sun’s UV rays. Therefore, passen-

gers could suffer from sunburn when the vehicle is used in

bright sunlight. We recommend taking the same precau-

tions, e.g. sunscreen and protective clothing, as you would

outdoors to protect your child’s skin in sunny conditions.

If the towing bicycle is not securely braced in an upright

position (e.g. with an appropriate kickstand), it could fall

over while passengers are climbing in or out of the trailer,

which can result in serious injury of the passenger.

Notices

Never leave unused security pins hanging freely from their

straps. They could get caught on passing objects and be

pulled off, damaging parts of the vehicle.

When attaching the hitch arm or jogger-wheel arms, do

not let the strap of the security pin get caught between the

hitch/wheel arm and attachment bracket as this could dam-

age the strap.

Be sure to remove the safety flag before folding the bicycle

trailer. Otherwise, the rod of the safety flag could break.

Be sure to remove the stroller wheel when pulling the

Croozer as a bicycle trailer. The stroller wheel could get

caught on obstacles as you pass, causing damage to the

wheel.

Never use your foot for operating the parking brake lever.

Doing so could damage the braking mechanism.

Never attempt to pull the bicycle trailer or push the stroller

or jogger with the parking brake engaged, as doing so

could damage the braking mechanism and tires.

Never allow the child to sit or stand on the hitch arm or

jogger-wheel arms, as doing so could damage these parts.

Never leave the key in the hitch-arm lock when pulling the

bicycle trailer. The key could break off.

The hitch lock by itself does not adequately protect the

Croozer from theft over longer periods of time. Always use

one or more bicycle locks to secure both the towing bicycle

and the Croozer to fixed, immovable objects, like lamp

posts, etc.

Description

What are the Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer Kid?

The Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer Kid are vehicles for

transporting children. They consist of a chassis that can be

quickly and easily converted to a bicycle trailer, a swivel-

wheel stroller, or a xed-wheel jogger. No longer will you

need a eet of vehicles because, with the Croozer, you can

take your child on a bike ride, a walk in the park, or a trek

through the countryside. It can even be used as a xed-

wheel sport stroller for jogging.

How should the Croozer Kid Plus and

Croozer Kid be used?

The Croozer is intended for private use for carrying chil-

dren in daylight hours on roads and other smooth, well-

surfaced paths as a bicycle trailer, stroller, or jogger. The

instructions and safety guidelines provided in this manual

must be followed at all times. The Croozer can only be

used for transporting children who are able to sit upright

unassisted and are within the specied age range. If a

child is unable to sit upright unassisted, the Croozer Infant

Sling must be used. Be sure to secure all cargo and take-

along items in the designated pockets and compartments

and observe the weight limits specied in the table below.

It is vitally important that all cargo be secured to prevent

it from shifting while the vehicle is in use. It is the user’s

responsibility to ensure that the transported cargo does not

compromise the safety of the passengers.

When in use as a bicycle trailer in poor visibility conditions

or at night, dusk, or dawn, the Croozer must be equipped

with a lighting system that complies with the applicable

laws and regulations in the country, state, or region of use.

The handlebar of the Croozer can be retrotted with the

Click & Flash lighting system (available as accessory). Any

spare parts or accessories used for either Croozer model

must be approved by Croozer Inc. and properly installed,

ideally by a professional bicycle mechanic.

How shouldn’t the Croozer Kid Plus and

Croozer Kid be used?

The Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer Kid may not be used in

any manner other than as specied above. Never trans-

port animals together with children in the Croozer. Never

use the Croozer as a cargo trailer. Never use the jogger

for skating. Never use the stroller for jogging or skating.

Commercial use, overloading, excessive speeds, improper

repairs, and use on unsurfaced roads or paths are not

permitted. Never install a car seat or other seating device

not approved by Croozer Inc. Never use the handlebar for

carrying loads, such as children’s vehicles or bags (other

than the Handlebar Bag available as an accessory).

Never pull the Croozer with a motorized vehicle, such as a

moped or scooter. This also applies to motorized bicycles

(electric bikes) with a maximum motor-assist speed of

more than 15 mph (25 km/h). Do not mount the hitch to a

bicycle with a rear-wheel hub motor, unless this modica-

tion is approved by the manufacturer. Croozer Inc. will not

be liable for any damages resulting from non-compliance

with these requirements.

Orientation and wording

Unless otherwise indicated, the terms “right” and “left”

in this manual refer to the passenger’s right or left when

seated in the bicycle trailer, facing forward (i.e. relative to

the direction of travel).

For simplicity, this manual generally refers to the child or

passenger in singular form. It is understood, however, that

the Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer Kid for 2 will be carrying

up to two children, and the Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer

Kid for 1, one child.

This Owner’s Manual is intended for use with both the

Croozer Kid Plus and Croozer Kid. In sections that ap-

ply equally to both models, the name “Croozer” is used

for simplicity, and the Croozer Kid Plus is pictured in the

respective illustrations. In sections where the two models

differ, the instructions and/or information for both models

are given separately and marked as follows:

For the sake of clarity, the Croozer two-seater is shown

in most of the photos and graphics used in this manual.

However, all descriptions and instructions also apply to the

single-seater version.

Initial Assembly and Unfolding the

Croozer

If you have purchased your Croozer from a shop, the

retailer should have installed the front bumper and front

reectors and sold the Croozer “ready to use.” If you

ordered your Croozer from an online or mail-order catalog,

we recommend having the initial assembly performed by

a professional bicycle mechanic. Furthermore, dealers

are required to provide their customers with all important

information on the use of the Croozer. If the initial assem-

bly has been performed, you can skip the rst few steps of

this section.

If your Croozer was not assembled prior to sale, then have

the initial assembly performed by a professional bicycle

mechanic or follow the assembly instructions below. Vari-

ous tools are required for the assembly.

The Croozer must be properly assembled to professional

standards. Improper assembly can result in accidents

with serious injury or death.

Checking package contents

The Croozer is packaged in a box for shipment. In order to

minimize package size, the Croozer is shipped in its folded

state. All removable parts are removed for shipment. The front

bumper and front reectors are also shipped unattached.

1. Remove all packaging materials from the Croozer and

from individual parts. Recycle all packaging materials

if possible. It may be wise to keep the box, e.g. for

storage or later transport.

Do not use plastic bags or packaging in cribs, beds, car-

riages, or playpens. Plastic bags and packaging materi-

als can be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation,

keep plastic bags and packaging away from babies and

children. Babies and children could pull plastic bags or

packaging over their heads and suffocate.

2. Using a knife or a pair of scissors, cut the two cable

ties with which the frame of the Croozer is secured.

3. Remove all individual parts from inside the Croozer.

These parts include

• the front bumper (1),

• a package containing the front reectors, mounting

hardware and a second axle hitch (2),

• a lockable hitch arm with three keys and an axle hitch (3),

• two side wheels (4),

• a safety ag (5),

• two jogger-wheel arms (6),

• a jogger wheel (7),

• a stroller wheel (8), a safety wrist strap (9),

• a handlebar (10),

• a safety strap for the handlebar (11) (attached to the

rear of the Croozer),

• and this owner’s manual (12).

Unfold the Croozer before mounting these parts.

Choking hazard! The shipping box contains small parts

that could present a choking hazard to young children.

To avoid serious injuries or death, keep small parts away

from young children.

Make sure children are clear of any moving parts when

you are installing or removing components or making ad-

justments to the Croozer. Otherwise they may be injured.

Unfolding the Croozer

1. Unbuckle the transport safety strap (1) at the rear of

the Croozer.

2. Tuck the strap into the special strap-storage pocket (2)

under the cover.

3. Brace the lower part of the Croozer frame with one

hand while using your other hand to lift the top part of

the frame.

4 Holding the upper frame tube in the raised position, pull

the seat frame slowly and carefully back and towards

you until the locking pins (4) of both locking mecha-

nisms (3) engage with audible clicks in the holes (5) of

the frame tubes.

Risk of pinching or crushing! There are pinch points

between the seat frame and Croozer frame, as well as in

the locking mechanism, that may cause painful injuries.

Be sure to keep your hands and fingers away from these

pinch points when folding or unfolding the trailer.

Use caution and slow movements when pulling back the

seat frame. If the seat frame is pulled back too quickly or

with excessive force, the frame tube and locking mecha-

nisms could be damaged.

Tip: A new Croozer will be slightly more difficult to unfold

because the canvas is still stiff.

5. Check to make sure that both locking mechanisms are

securely engaged. There should be no movement in

the seat frame when you press against it.

If the locking mechanisms are not properly engaged, the

frame of the Croozer could collapse while riding, poten-

tially resulting in serious injuries for the passenger(s).

6. To fold the Croozer, follow the above steps in the

reverse order. Begin by pushing the red slide button

(6) on both locking mechanisms (3) towards the rear

of the trailer and pulling the two locking mechanisms

inwards, away from the frame tubes.

Be sure to remove the safety flag before folding the

Croozer. Otherwise, the rod of the safety flag could

break.

Installing the bumper and reectors

Because packaging size is limited, the bumper and front

reectors of the Croozer are shipped unattached. These

parts are included in the scope of delivery and must be

properly installed.

Box contents

The box with your Croozer should contain the following

items:

• a bumper (1),

• a package containing

two short ¼” Allen bolts with washers and locknuts (2),

two long ¼” Allen bolts (3) with four rubber washers (4),

two front reectors (5) with bolts (6), and a second axle

hitch (7), which can be mounted to a second towing

bicycle.

For the installation of the reectors and bumper, the follow-

ing tools are required: a 7/16” (11mm) open-end wrench, a

Phillips screwdriver, and a 5/32” (4mm) Allen key.

Mounting the front reectors

When riding at night, dusk, or dawn – or when visibility is

in any way reduced – both the Croozer and the towing bi-

cycle must be equipped with active lighting systems (i.e.

equipment that makes its own light.) The front reflectors

of the Croozer do not qualify as active lighting equipment.

If you ride at night or in conditions of poor visibility without

an appropriate lighting system, other road users may not

be able to see you, which could result in accidents with

serious injury or death.

1. Hold the rst reector (5) against the mounting plate

on the front bumper, positioning it so that the pin (8) on

the back of the reector ts through the lower hole of

the mounting plate.

2. Insert one of the reector bolts (6) through the upper

hole of the mounting plate, and fasten the reector (5)

by tightening the bolt with a Phillips screwdriver (9).

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to attach the second front reec-

tor to the other mounting plate on the bumper.

Mounting the bumper

1. Insert the two long Allen bolts (3) from inside through

the holes in the front frame tube of the Croozer.

2. Slide two rubber washers (4) over the end of each Al-

len bolt protruding through the front of the frame tube.

3. Place the bumper (1) onto the mounting plates on the

sides of the frame, lining up the holes.

4. Screw the two long Allen bolts (3) into the threaded

holes of the bumper (1), tightening lightly at rst.

5. Insert one of the short Allen bolts (2) through the

aligned holes of the bumper (1) and the mounting

plate.

6. Place a washer and locknut from below onto the end

of the bolt, and tighten the nut lightly at rst.

7. Repeat these steps to attach the other side of the

bumper (1).

8. Adjust the position of the bumper (1) as necessary to

ensure that it is even and level; then tighten all bolts,

using a 5/32” (4mm) Allen key and a 7/16” (11mm)

open-end wrench.

Checking and adjusting the parking brakes

of the Croozer Kid Plus

To ensure that the parking brakes are in perfect working

order, they must be checked and, if necessary, adjusted.

When checking and adjusting the parking brakes, both

wheels must be removed.

The parking brakes must be correctly adjusted! If the

parking brakes have not been correctly adjusted, the

parked Croozer could roll away unexpectedly, resulting in

accidents with serious injuries or death.

1. If the wheels are mounted, remove them.

2. Pull back the brake lever (1) as far as it will go. The

pins (2 and 4) on both sides of the Croozer will be

pushed out of the brake bodies.

3. Use a ruler to measure how far the pins extend from

the brake bodies. The parking brake is correctly ad-

justed if the respective pin extends by approx. 7/16” to

15/32” (11 to 12 mm).

If the pin extends less than 7/16” (11 mm), the brake

must be adjusted.

4. If the pin (4) on the left side of the Croozer extends

from the brake body by less than 7/16” (11 mm), then

turn the respective barrel adjuster (5) on the brake le-

ver counterclockwise until the pin is extended by 7/16”

to 15/32” (11 to 12 mm).

5. If the pin (2) on the right side of the Croozer extends

from the brake body by less than 7/16” (11 mm), then

turn the respective barrel adjuster (3) on the brake le-

ver counterclockwise until the pin is extended by 7/16”

to 15/32” (11 to 12 mm).

6. After both pins have been checked and, if applicable,

adjusted, mount the wheels and check the function of

the parking brakes by pulling back the brake lever and

trying to move the Croozer forwards or backwards with

gentle pressure. It should not be possible to move the

Croozer when the parking brakes are engaged.

Checking and adjusting the parking brakes

of the Croozer Kid

To ensure that the parking brakes are in perfect working

order, they must be checked and, if necessary, adjusted.

The parking brakes must be correctly adjusted! If the

parking brakes have not been correctly adjusted, the

parked Croozer could roll away unexpectedly, resulting in

accidents with serious injuries or death.

1. Pull back the brake lever (1) as far as it will go. The

brake pins (2 and 3) on both sides of the Croozer will

move upwards and engage in the locking plates (4) on

the side wheels. For a better view of the parking-brake

mechanism, the photo on the right shows the trailer

with the side wheel removed.

Tip: It might be necessary to roll the Croozer an inch or

two forwards or backwards so that the brake pins

can engage in the locking plates.

2. If the brake pins (2 and 3) on one or both sides of the

Croozer fail to engage fully in the locking plate(s) (4)

on the side wheels, then adjustment is necessary.

3. If the brake pin (2) on the left side of the Croozer does

not engage fully in the locking plate (4), then turn the

respective barrel adjuster (5) on the brake lever coun-

terclockwise until the brake pin (2) is engaged fully in

the locking plate (4).

4. If the brake pin (3) on the right side of the Croozer

does not engage fully in the locking plate (4), then turn

the respective barrel adjuster (6) on the brake lever

counterclockwise until the brake pin (3) is engaged

fully in the locking plate (4).

5. After adjustment, check the function of the parking

brakes by pulling back the brake lever and trying

to move the Croozer forwards or backwards with

gentle pressure. It should not be possible to move the

Croozer when the parking brakes are engaged.

Attaching and removing the wheels

The wheels of the Croozer are equipped with push-button

axles. By pressing the dust cap (1) on the wheel hub, the

retaining balls (2) will retract within the axle to permit the

attachment or removal of the wheel. The wheels cannot be

attached or removed unless the dust cap is pressed in.

1. Check that the brake lever (3) is in the disengaged

position. If not, move the brake lever (3) forward to

disengage the mechanism.

2. Use one hand to lift up the back of the Croozer.

3. Press the dust cap (1) of the wheel hub with the mark-

ing “PUSH.”

4. Insert the wheel axle (4) all the way into the axle re-

ceiver (5) in the suspension swing arm of the Croozer

Kid Plus or in the frame of the Croozer Kid, and

release the dust cap.

5. Check whether the wheel is locked securely in the axle

receiver by pulling rmly on the wheel without pressing

the dust cap. It should not be possible to remove the

wheel.

6. Follow the same steps to attach the second wheel.

After the wheels have been attached, be sure to check

that they are both locked securely in the axle receivers.

This can be done by pulling on the wheels without press-

ing on the dust caps. It should not be possible to remove

the wheels unless you are pressing on the dust caps.

Wheels that are not securely locked in the axle receivers

could fall off while riding, resulting in accidents with seri-

ous injury or death.

7. After the wheels have been attached, check the func-

tion of the parking brakes by pulling back on the brake

lever (3). When the parking brakes are engaged, it

should not be possible to move either of the wheels.

8. Before using your Croozer for the rst time, be sure to

inate both tires. The actual tire pressure should never

be higher or lower than the maximum and minimum

ination pressures marked on the tire sidewall. Never

use compressed air, e.g. from a gas station, to ll your

tires. The quick ow and high pressure can overinate

the tires, causing the tube and/or tire to burst.

9. To remove the wheels, follow these instructions in the

reverse order. Press the dust caps (1) and pull the

wheels off.
