INTRODUCTION

The Gas Pressure Washer has a 420cc engine that starts easily and

runs smoothly. The triplex pump has a built-in thermal relief valve and

unloader valve. The chemical injector allows for the application of soaps

and degreasers.

A separate manual for the gasoline engine is included. Please read the

engine manual before using this product. The engine manual is

considered accurate when information about the engine disagrees with

this manual.

WORK AREA

1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean,

well-lit and free of distractions. Place lights so you are not working

in a shadow.

2. Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away

from the work area.

3. Store tools properly in a safe and dry location. Keep tools out of

the reach of children.

4. Do not install or use in the presence of flammable gases, dust or

liquids.

5. Using a pressure washer can create puddles and slippery surfaces.

The work area should have adequate slopes and drainage to reduce

the possibility of falling due to slips.

PERSONAL SAFETY

WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by the

Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American National

Standards Institute (ANSI).

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

1. Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side

protection for the eyes. Eye protection equipment should comply

with CSA Z94.3-07 or ANSI Z87.1 standards based on the type of

work performed.

1.1 Use indirect vented safety goggles designed for wet conditions to

protect eyes from injury. Spray from this unit has extreme

pressure and can ricochet back splashing water or propelling

objects towards eyes.

2. Wear gloves that provide protection based on the work materials or

to reduce the effects of tool vibration.

3. Wear protective clothing designed for the work environment and

tool.

4. Non-skid footwear is recommended to maintain footing and

balance in the work environment.

5. This tool can cause hearing damage. Wear hearing protection gear

with an appropriate Noise Reduction Rating to withstand the

decibel levels.

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS

Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid

personal injury or damage to the tool.

1. Do not operate any tool when tired or under the influence of drugs,

alcohol or medications.

2. Avoid wearing clothes or jewelry that can become entangled with

the moving parts of a tool. Keep long hair covered or bound.

3. Do not overreach when operating the tool. Proper footing and

balance enables better control in unexpected situations.

4. Securely hold this tool using both hands. Using a tool with only one

hand can result in loss of control.

SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained

from repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules.

If you use this tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious

personal injury.

1. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a

specific function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an

unintended purpose.

2. Do not use the tool if any parts are damaged, broken or misplaced.

Repair or replace the parts.

3. NEVER defeat the safety features of this product.

4. Keep pressure washer a minimum of four feet away from anything that

could be damaged by heat from the muffler exhaust such as houses,

automobiles, dry brush or live plants.

5. DO NOT leave the spray gun unattended while the unit is running.

6. Always operate the pressure washer from a stable surface. Avoid

using the pressure washer from precarious locations such as ladders

or scaffolding.

7. DO NOT attempt to repair damaged or defective high-pressure hoses.

Always replace them.

8. DO NOT repair leaking connections with sealant of any kind. Replace

the o-ring or seal.

9. DO NOT disconnect the high-pressure hose from the pump and spray

gun while the system is pressurized.

10. Always ensure that the spray gun, nozzles, hoses and fittings are

correctly attached before starting the engine.

11. NEVER hold onto the hose or fittings during operation. This can allow

pressurized water to escape and inflict an injury.

12. DO NOT plug this pressure water into a hot water supply. This

pressure washer is designed for cold water use only.

13. Prior to starting the pressure washer in cold weather, be sure ice has

not formed in any part of the equipment.

14. Ensure the pressure washer is not covered during operation to avoid

overheating the motor.

15. This pressure washer is capable of producing pressures up to 3,100

PSI. To avoid property damage and personal injury, do not operate the

pump with components rated for less than 3,200 PSI working pressure.

16. If connecting the pressure washer to a portable water system, ensure

the water system is protected against backflow.

17. NEVER attach or remove wand or hose fittings while system is

pressurized.

18. Never transport or make adjustments to this unit while it is running.

19. Do not allow the high pressure hose to come in contact with any

hot part of the unit. The hose might be damaged, possibly causing

it to burst or leak under high pressure.

20. Shut off the pressure washer if it is leaking water. Discharge all

pressure before tightening fittings or having repair work done by a

qualified technician.

SPRAYING PRECAUTIONS

DANGER! The pressure washer produces fluid pressures and

velocities strong enough to penetrate human and animal flesh

that will result in serious injury or amputation with some nozzles.

DANGER! NEVER aim the pressure washer spray gun in the

direction of people or animals, even if the power and water

supply are turned off. High velocity fluid spray can cause objects

to break, propelling particles at high speeds.

1. Keep operating area clear of all persons, animals and obstacles.

2. DO NOT spray flammable or toxic liquids.

3. DO NOT spray near a power source.

4. DO NOT lock the spray gun in open position.

5. Only use a spray gun that has a trigger lock or trigger guard in

place and in working order.

6. Be careful when squeezing the trigger, as recoil from the spray gun

can cause the operator to fall.

7. NEVER place hands in front of nozzle.

8. Always be certain spray gun, nozzles and accessories are correctly

attached.

9. Relieve system pressure after shutting off the engine and water

supply by aiming the spray gun in safe direction and squeezing the

trigger until water stops flowing.

10. Keep high pressure hose connected to pump and spray gun while

system is pressurized.

HYDRAULIC PRECAUTIONS

DANGER! Seek immediate medical attention if hydraulic fluid under

pressure penetrates your skin. See Injection Injury precautions for

instructions before using a pressurized hydraulic system.

1. Do not touch or handle hydraulic hoses or components while under

pressure. Hydraulic fluid escaping under pressure has sufficient

force to penetrate your clothing and skin. A pinpoint hole may inject

hydraulic fluid into your body. Seek immediate medical attention if

this occurs (see Injection Injury).

2. Never exceed the hydraulic system’s load capacity (see Specifications).

3. Do not adjust the hydraulic system’s relief setting. The settings are

pre-set by the factory.

4. Hydraulic oil under pressure is hot and can cause a burn injury if

touched, sprayed or spilled. Allow the hydraulic system to cool

before conducting maintenance.

5. Hydraulic components require regular inspection. Release all

pressure from the system before you inspect it. Replace damaged

hydraulic parts with identical manufacturer's components.

6. Do not attempt makeshift repairs to a hydraulic system. Such

repairs can fail suddenly and create a hazardous condition.

7. A damaged or disconnected hydraulic hose under pressure may

whip around and inflict personal injury or damage the work area.

Secure the hose to a fixed or permanent structure with clamps or

cable ties.

8. Hydraulic fluid has a combustible flash point of 200°F (93°F). Do

not expose the fluid to an ignition source.

9. Change your clothing immediately if sprayed with hydraulic fluid.

Store clothing or rags contaminated with hydraulic fluid in an

approved metal safety can with a spring-closing lid and venting

designed to contain a fire.

10. Only use hydraulic fluid in the pump. Do not substitute or mix brake

fluid, or any other fluid, with the hydraulic fluid. This can result in a pump

failure and injure the user or bystander. It may also damage the pump.

INJECTION INJURY

DANGER! Seek immediate, professional medical treatment if fluid

penetrates your skin. It may feel like a pricking or sting. Do not

wait for the appearance of symptoms. A toxic reaction can occur

from the exposure to detergents or degreasers.

Inform the medical staff that you have a fluid penetration injury as soon

as you arrive at the medical facility. The severity of the symptoms will

depend on the type of fluid injected. Bring the Safety Data Sheet for the

fluid with you to the medical facility if possible.

INJECTION PRECAUTIONS

Fluid can penetrate the skin at 100 PSI pressure. Fluid escaping under

pressure from the tool has sufficient force to penetrate your clothing and

skin. Follow the precautions below to avoid an injection injury.

1. Always check for leaks wearing a face shield, safety goggles,

rubberized gloves and protective clothes.

2. Release all pressure from the system before you inspect it.

3. Do not use your hands to detect a fluid leak. Use a large piece of

wood, cardboard or paper and watch for discolouration.

4. Replace damaged parts with identical manufacturer's components

to ensure it is rated to handle the pressure.

RISK OF CHEMICAL BURN

DANGER! Use of acids, toxic or corrosive chemicals, poisons,

insecticides, or any kind of flammable solvent with this product

could result in serious injury or death.

1. DO NOT use acids, gasoline, kerosene, or any other flammable

materials in this product. Use only household detergents, cleaners

and degreasers recommended for use in pressure washers.

2. Wear protective clothing to protect eyes and skin from contact with

sprayed materials.

3. DO NOT use chlorine bleach or any other corrosive compound.

UNPACKING

WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace

the missing part before operating. Failure to do so could result in

a malfunction and personal injury.

Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for

damage. Make sure that all items in the contents are included.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION

Numbered references in parenthesis (#1) refer to the included Parts List.

Dashed numbers in parenthesis (Fig. 1-1) refer to a specific point in an

illustration or image.

1. Attach the high pressure hose hanger (#15) to the upper frame

handle (#14) using two locknuts (#13). Tighten securely (Fig. 1) .

2. Slide the upper frame handle (#14) over the two upright tubes on

the frame (#2) and press down until Handle is seated and two

detent pins snap into place (Fig. 2).

3. Slide the front frame handle (#20) over the two angled tubes on

the Upper frame handle and press down until handle is seated and

two detent pins snap into place (Fig. 3).

4. Remove the red shipping plug from the pump

(#22) and replace with the included pump

dipstick (Fig. 4).

5. Connect the pressure hose (#26) to the outlet

fitting on the pump (#22) by pulling back the

quick connect collar and pushing the Hose into

the fitting (Fig. 5-2). Connect the water supply

hose to the water inlet connection on the

Pump and hand-tighten the Inlet Fitting

(Fig. 5-1) . The water source must be able to

provide a minimum of five gallons of clean,

cold water per minute at 40 PSI. Only use a

5/8 in. inner diameter (or larger) hose that

is rated to meet this capacity.

6. Connect the pressure hose to the handle of the

spray gun (#25) by pulling back the quick

connect collar on the Hose and pushing the

Hose onto the handle fitting. Squeeze the

trigger for one minute to purge air from the

system (Fig. 6).

7. Remove the protective cap on the wand (#24)

inlet. Insert the Wand into the spray gun tip and

firmly hand-tighten the nut.

8. Attach the desired nozzle to the wand by

pulling back the quick connect collar and

pushing the nozzle onto the end of the Wand.

Make sure the quick connect collar locks the

nozzle in place (Fig. 7).

OPERATION

Choose the nozzle that best meets the needs of the job. See chart

below. Only use the nozzles on surfaces capable of withstanding the

force of the spray.

PRESSURE NOZZLE SELECTION

The pressure washer has five spray nozzles. Each nozzle is color coded

and delivers a specific spray arc between 0° and 65°. The narrower the

degree arc, the higher the pressure at the water spray’s point of contact

with the item being cleaned. Distance from the item that is being sprayed

will also factor into the pressure level at the point of contact.

The table identifies the colour, arc and an example. The purpose example

is only a suggestion as some items are made of multiple materials and not

all materials will withstand the force of the pressurized spray. Choose the

nozzle with the largest spray arc, if you are unsure how much pressure to

apply to an item without damaging it. Switch to a nozzle with a narrower

degree angle until you find the one that achieves the results you want.

The nozzles are stored on the panel mounted on the pressure washer’s

handle. Colors on the panel identify the correct nozzle location.

USING DETERGENT

IMPORTANT! Only use the Black (low pressure) Nozzle when

spraying detergents. The power of the other nozzles will propel

mist back at the operator and can embed detergent into the

surface.

1. Read the detergent’s directions. Only use detergents specified for use

with pressure washers.

2. Connect the Detergent Siphon Tube

(#27) to the nipple on the Pressure

Hose connection area of the Pump

(Fig. 8).

3. Submerge siphon tube’s strainer

end into the container of prepared

detergent solution.

4. Follow instructions to start the pressure washer.

STARTING THE PRESSURE WASHER

When the engine is running, do not allow the

Pressure Washer to remain idle for more than

two minutes. If allowed to remain idle, the water

in the unit will heat up, possibly causing

damage to the Pressure Washer.

During normal operation the thermal relief valve

may release small amounts of water

intermittently.

1. Turn Pressure Regulator counter-clockwise

to reduce pressure in the system (Fig. 9).

2. Start the engine by following the instructions in the engine manual.

BREAK-IN PERIOD

Breaking-in the engine will help to ensure proper equipment and engine

operation. The operational break-in period will last about 3 hours of use.

During this period:

1. Do not apply a heavy load to the equipment.

2. Do not operate the engine at its maximum speed.

The maintenance break-in period will last about 20 hours of use.

Change the engine oil after this period.

USING THE PRESSURE WASHER

1. Unlock and hold down the Trigger to start the stream. Be aware

that when it is first started, the gun will kick.

2. Start with a low pressure nozzle and gradually use higher

pressures as needed.

2.1 Test spray the surface at an edge to make sure that the stream

is not too strong.

2.2 If the stream damages the surface, move farther away to

reduce the applied pressure.

2.3 If the stream is still too strong, lock the trigger in the safety

position and change to a lower pressure nozzle.

3. Hold the wand at about a 45° angle when cleaning; spraying the

surface directly could embed dirt into the surface (especially with the

high pressure nozzles). Spray at distance of about three to five feet.

4. Clean vertical and sloped surfaces from the top down.

5. When cleaning horizontal surfaces, occasionally use the stream to

clear the area of excess water.

6. Hold the Trigger down and move the wand back and forth slowly

and steadily to pressure wash the surface. Take special care when

spraying surfaces made of two different materials (brick and

mortar, for example), so as to not damage the softer of the two

materials during pressure washing.

7. If the surface is streaked or uneven at the end of a job, switch to a

Nozzle that has a wider spray pattern to blend the affected area.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient,

easier to control and will have fewer problems.

2. Inspect the tool fittings, alignment, hoses and power supply cord

periodically. Have damaged or worn components repaired or

replaced by an authorized technician. Only use identical

replacement parts when servicing.

3. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.

4. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.

5. Keep the tool clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.

6. Maintain the tool’s labels and name plates. These carry important

information. If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for

replacements.

WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the

tool. An improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the

user and/or others.

AFTER EACH USE

CHECK HIGH PRESSURE HOSE

WARNING! NEVER repair the high pressure hose. Repairs can fail

and will be weaker than the hose itself. A hose that fails while

under pressure can inflict a serious injury. Replace with a hose

that has a maximum pressure rating that exceeds the pressure

washer’s maximum output.

The high pressure hose can develop leaks due to wear, kinking or

misuse and abuse. Inspect the hose each time before using it. Check

the hose for cuts, leaks, abrasions or bulging spots. Also check the

couplings to ensure they are not loose. Replace the hose immediately if

any of these conditions exist.

CHECK SIPHON TUBE

Check the detergent siphoning tube for clogs, leaks or tears. Clean the tube

of clogs. Replace if damaged or it no longer fits the pump fitting tightly.

CHECK SPRAY GUN

Examine the hose connection to the spray gun and make sure it is

secure. Check that the trigger lock is in place to prevent accidental

spraying. Replace the spray gun immediately if the trigger lock is

damaged or will not remain in place.

CHECK SPRAY WAND AND PRESSURE NOZZLES

A pulsing sensation felt when squeezing the trigger indicates either the

spray wand or the pressure nozzle is partially clogged and is causing

pressure to build in the pump.

1. Shut off the engine and turn off the water supply. Then release the

pressure in the pump system by aiming the spray gun in a safe

direction and squeezing the trigger.

2. Remove the spray nozzle from end of spray gun wand.

3. Use a small paper clip to free any foreign material clogging or

restricting the spray nozzle.

4. Disconnect the spray gun wand and check for foreign material that

may clog the tube.

5. Remove additional debris by back flushing water through the spray

gun wand using a garden hose.

6. Reinstall spray nozzle into spray gun wand.

7. Reconnect spray gun wand to spray gun.

8. Make sure the garden hose is connected to the pump’s water inlet.

Check that high pressure hose is connected to spray gun and

pump. Turn on the water.

9. Start engine following instructions How to Start Your Pressure Washer

10. Test the pressure washer with each of the five spray nozzles to

ensure they are all unclogged.

REPAIRING LEAKING CONNECTIONS

WARNING! Do not use thread-seal tape or liquid to prevent leaks

in the high pressure hose. This can cause a high pressure leak

that can result in a serious injury or injection injury.

1. Replace the o-rings of any connection that leaks.

2. Replace the connectors if the leaks continue.

EMPTY THE PUMP

Force water from the pump by pulling the recoil starter 6 times.

ENGINE MAINTENANCE

See the Engine manual for instructions on how to properly maintain the

engine.

CLEANING

Use a damp cloth to wipe exterior surfaces clean. A soft bristle brush

can loosen caked on dirt, oil, etc. A vacuum cleaner will remove loose

dirt and debris in difficult to reach places.

Examine the screen on the pump water inlet. Clean it if the screen is

clogged or replace it if screen is damaged.

LUBRICATION

Inspect and lubricate the tool when required. Only use light oil to

lubricate the tool. Other lubricants may not be suitable and could

damage the tool or cause a malfunction during use.

STORAGE

PRESSURE WASHER STORAGE

1. Disconnect the spray gun from the high pressure hose after the

pressure washer is cool and the water pressure is released.

2. Drain all water from the high pressure hose, coil it and store it in

cradle of pressure washer handle.

3. Drain all water from the spray gun and spray wand by holding the

spray gun in the vertical position with nozzle pointed downward.

Squeeze trigger to remove fluids. Store in spray gun/hose holder.

4. Store siphon hose, high pressure hose and spray wand so they are

protected from damage, such as being run over.

PROTECTING INTERNAL SEALS

The internal seals require additional preparation if the pressure washer

is stored for more than 30 days or freezing temperatures are expected.

PUMP SAVER

Pump saver comes in a pressurized or unpressurized container. The

liquid is released from the pressurized container by pressing a button.

The unpressurized version is a squeeze bottle.

1. Remove the high pressure hose from the pump outlet. Empty the

water from the hose.

1.1 You may choose to keep the spray gun connected to the pump

to protect it as well. Keep the trigger depressed while using the

pump saver during step 5 until the liquid no longer flows. Then

remove and store the spray gun along with the hose.

2. Remove the garden hose from the pump inlet. Empty the water

from the hose.

3. Force water from the pump by pulling the recoil starter 6 times.

4. Attach the pump saver container to the pump inlet.

5. Pressurized – Press the button and wait until the liquid flows

through the outlet port.

Unpressurized – Squeeze the bottle for force the liquid into the

pump. Pull the engine’s recoil rope slowly until liquid flows through

the outlet port. You may need to squeeze additional pump saver

liquid into the pump during this step.

6. Remove the pump saver container and plug the pump’s inlet and outlet.

RV ANTIFREEZE

RV antifreeze is an alternative if pump saver is not available.

1. Obtain a funnel, six ounces of RV (Recreational Vehicle) antifreeze

and approximately 36 inches of garden hose with a male hose

connector on one end.

NOTICE! Only RV antifreeze is suitable. Other types of antifreeze

are corrosive and can damage the pressure pump.

2. Disconnect the spark plug lead and ensure it cannot touch any metal

on the pressure washer by wrapping the lead in insulating tape.

3. Connect the 36 in. length of garden hose to the pump’s water inlet.

4. Place the funnel in the end of the hose and add the RV antifreeze.

5. Pull engine starter rope slowly several times until antifreeze comes

out of pressure hose connection of the pressure pump.

6. Remove the garden hose from water inlet of pressure pump and

seal the pump’s inlet and outlet.

DISPOSAL

Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.

Contact your local municipality for a list of disposal facilities or by-laws for

electronic devices, batteries, oil or other toxic liquids.

Do not drain hydraulic oil into the sewer system or dispose in an

uncontrolled location. Hydraulic fluid may take more than a year to

breakdown in the environment and the ingredients may still be toxic.

Contact your local municipality for proper disposal instructions or locations

IMPORTANT! DO NOT pollute the environment by allowing

uncontrolled discharge of waste oil.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the tool does not

function properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a

qualified technician service the tool.

Consult the Engine manual to troubleshoot engine issues.

5. Stop engine and water source.

Disconnect water source from

pump inlet and turn water source

to ON to remove all air from hose.

When steady stream of water is

present, turn water source to OFF.

Re-connect water source to pump

inlet and turn on water source.

Squeeze trigger to remove

remaining air.

6. Use hose under 100 ft.
